Sambucus gets out to the 3000m for the first time in what is a much easier race compared to his latest assignment at Flemington.

The three-year-old by Fiorente was placed at Headquarters the start prior over 2800m at Stakes level where he gave good chase to finish a clear third to Ahuriri.

Drawn well, in light at the weights and experienced here at Mornington, he rates one of the main chances.

Bold Jakkal should take plenty of improvement into his third-up assignment.

Patrick Payne’s gelding was placed first-up at Strathalbyn two back, before finding the line fairly at Werribee in wet conditions 10 days ago where he was beaten just over three lengths.

Brad Rawiller takes over now and the pair should be afforded a nice cart into the race from midfield.

Top Arctic appeared in need of the run when finishing down the order fresh at Sandown earlier in the month.

This is an easier assignment for the son of Frosted, and although he’ll carry big weight, he does get in well with the claim out to 1500m.

Fitter now with a win to his name second-up, this looks a winnable assignment if Tom Prebble can park off the speed and save something for the finish.

Fuzz Buzz can get back and stalk the pace from barrier four under Tom Prebble.

This mare by Smart Missile has been freshened for her latest effort at Cranbourne where she was never much of a threat over 1400m from a long way back.

Her previous efforts over short distances were good though, and she should find the step back to 1200m suitable given she’s missed the money only twice over this trip.
