Cranbourne: Race 4 (6:45pm)

Race Starts in: Race Finished

Win

No. 11 Suances

J: Will Price (57.5kg) T: Peter G Moody & Katherine Coleman

Suances looks tough to beat rising to 1300m in just her second start.

The filly by The Autumn Sun out of a half sister to Sea Siren gave good chase from midfield to run third on debut at Mornington two weeks ago, simply failing to reel in the all-the-way winner Majority Interest on a soft track.

She’s drawn to receive every chance here from barrier 3 and should appreciate a more genuine tempo on this occasion.

Cranbourne: Race 6 (7:45pm)

Race Starts in: Race Finished

Win Market Mover

No. 1 Chartres

J: Lauren Burke (62.5kg) T: Matt Laurie

Chartres looks well-placed back a level after contesting the mile for third a fortnight ago at Bendigo from a difficult gate.

Matt Laurie’s gelding has mixed his form of late but typically runs well here at Cranbourne with two wins next to his name.

The son of Toronado will need to find room from the inside gate, but with placings to his name at Group 3 level, he’s the class runner in this field.

Cranbourne: Race 7 (8:15pm)

Race Starts in: Race Finished

Each Way

No. 4 Legatus

J: Teodore Nugent (58kg) T: John Moloney

Legatus is unbeaten here on his home track and looks ready to peak now third-up.

Both efforts this time in work have been tidy, overcoming a slow start at Sale on each occasion where he’s rattled home late to finish a long way off both The Cunning Fox and Godzilla.

Luck from out wide will be necessary under Teo Nugent, but with wins over further to his name, he should prove very difficult to hold out if he can get back and settle toward the tail.

Cranbourne: Race 8 (8:45pm)

Race Starts in: Race Finished

Win

No. 7 Hydro Star

J: Jamie Mott (61kg) T: John Mcardle

Hydro Star was handy on return when just missing out on a place here over the track and distance.

Jamie Mott had a difficult time caught three-wide rounding the turn, but still managed to get this boy in a lovely spot to run fourth behind beaten just under three lengths.

It’s been a long time in between drinks for the six-year-old by Headwater, but he has run some nice races at this stage of his prep in the past.

With improvement to come, he should be strong again at the tail end.
