Daily Racing Tips – Doomben Cup Day Special

Doomben: Race 1 (11:08am)

Race Starts in: Race Finished

Win

No. 8 Midnight In Tokyo

J: Ryan Maloney (58kg) T: Annabel Neasham

Midnight In Tokyo loves racing at Doomben, missing the money only once from five starts.

Annabel Neasham’s mare resumed in fine order two weeks ago on the Sunshine Coast, overcoming some interference into the straight where she held on late to finish third in trying conditions.

A dryer track suits and she should find the step up in trip to her liking with luck from out wide.

Doomben: Race 4 (12:53pm)

Race Starts in: Race Finished

Win

No. 4 Clean Energy

J: Adam Hyeronimus (56.5kg) T: G Waterhouse & A Bott

Clean Energy is a clear on-top choice in the Bill Carter Stakes this afternoon.

This filly by Zoustar is another standout from the Waterhouse and Bott stable, debuting with an impressive win at Warwick Farm three weeks ago on a bottomless track.

A half sister to Sunline, she’s bred to see out the 1200m trip and looks very tough to fault with Adam Hyrenonimus retaining the ride from a perfect gate.

Doomben: Race 5 (1:28pm)

Race Starts in: Race Finished

Win Market Mover

No. 1 Spywire

J: James Mcdonald (57kg) T: Ciaron Maher

Spywire returns from a freshen-up looking to build on a handy trial win at Randwick last week.

Ciaron Maher’s colt put the writing on the wall earlier in the year when winning by a clear margin on the Gold Coast, before finding excuses in the Blue Diamond two runs later from a difficult gate.

He wrapped his autumn finishing two lengths off the impressive Growing Empire, and maps to get a lovely run up on the speed on this occasion under James McDonald.

Doomben: Race 9 (3:57pm)

Race Starts in: Race Finished

Win

No. 3 Kovalica

J: Nash Rawiller (59kg) T: Chris Waller

Kovalica is back for another crack at the Doomben Cup after finishing third to Huetor last year.

Chris Waller’s Kiwi import has become somewhat of a Queensland expert, seen finishing third on a bottomless track in the Hollindale Stakes two weeks ago on the Sunshine Coast to Numerian.

His final 200m split was the fastest of the meeting that day, and with plenty of likeable form over the 2000m trip, he should prove incredibly hard to beat with Nash Rawiller retaining the ride.
