Rosehill Preview & Tips – Saturday, April 27

The Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival may be over for another year, but quality racing continues this Saturday at Rosehill where ten races are scheduled to be run and won.

Fine weather is forecast so racing should take place on a good surface with the rail in the true position.

Check out our top selections in each race below.

Race 1 - 11:30AM AEST ATC BOOKMAKERS RECOGNITION DAY HANDICAP (1100 METRES)
No. 8 Seascape

Seascape (8) looked better than a provincial horse when she won on debut at Gosford last start.

The Michael Freedman-trained daughter of I Am Invincible went forward from the outside barrier to lead the 1100m contest before dashing clear in the straight to comfortably win by 4.8 lengths.

She’ll be better for the experience second-up and should enjoy a nice run on speed.

Race 2 - 12:05PM AEST MIDWAY HANDICAP (1100 METRES)
No. 5 Biographer

Biographer (5) should be ready to produce a peak performance fourth-up.

The Ron Quinton-trained four-year-old gelding raced three-wide the trip two starts ago on the Kensington track but still ran on strongly to finish 1.7 length fourth in a stronger race than this.

Last start he worked to the line strongly but was no match for Miss Hades when finishing second by a length over 1200m at Gosford.

Putt For Dough was a length behind him that day and that horse subsequently won a Midway Handicap at Randwick last Saturday to frank the form.

From the inside barrier, Sam Clipperton can give his mount the run of the race.

Race 3 - 12:40PM AEST PHILLIP PICONE HANDICAP (1500 METRES)
No. 7 Green Shadows

Green Shadows (7) returned in magnificent fashion last start over 1400m at Warwick Farm.

The Ryan and Alexiou-trained son of Menari settled back before unleashing a powerful turn of foot to charge past his rivals and win by 1.5 lengths.

He’ll strip fitter and has run well second-up in the past including a win in his first preparation and 1.5 length runner-up finish last campaign.

His chances will increase if they run along as he’ll be attacking the line with gusto for Josh Parr.

Race 4 - 1:15PM AEST HIGHWAY HANDICAP (1100 METRES)
No. 13 Martini Mumma

Martini Mumma (13) comes to town for the first time in sparkling form.

The Matthew Dale-trained three-year-old filly has spaced her rivals in two runs back this preparation.

She bolted in by 5.3 lengths when resuming at Wagga over 1000m before putting a gap in them second-up when winning by a massive six lengths at Goulburn.

On each occasion she has sat outside the lead before dashing away, and she may do that again here, but she has the tactical flexibility to take a sit if need be.

She’s only had the three starts and looks to have plenty of upside so hopefully she can continue her upward trajectory.

Race 5 - 1:50PM AEST DENNIS JAMIESON HANDICAP (1300 METRES)
No. 1 Healing Oasis

Healing Oasis (1) resumes here on the back of two trials with the most recent producing a nice piece of on pace work to win.

The Annabel Neasham-trained five-year-old mare races well fresh and did win this race last year when having her first Australian start.

She will carry 60kg after Jett Stanley’s claim, but she has earned it given she has raced well in significantly harder races.

From the good draw, Stanley can go forward and give this a real shake at decent odds.

Race 6 - 2:25PM AEST HOT ROD & CUSTOM SHOW HANDICAP (1200 METRES)
No. 1 Let's Try

Let’s Try (1) returned in magnificent order at Newcastle last start.

The All Too Hard gelding worked early from an outside barrier to sit outside lead before giving a strong kick in the straight to dash clear and win the 1200m contest by 2.5 lengths.

He’ll strip fitter second-up and did go within a head of winning his second race last preparation.

Brandon Lerana has builit a solid partnership with the horse and can settle in a forward position.

Race 7 - 3:00PM AEST FAREWELL JAMES ROSS SPRINT (1100 METRES)
No. 7 Wategos

Wategos (7) heads to the races for the first time since finishing sixth in The Big Dance.

The Bjorn Baker-trained gelding has warmed up for this first-up assignment with two trial wins where he has found the line strongly.

While he’ll be better over further, he can fire fresh and did win over 1000m at Kembla Grange when first-up in a previous preparation.

There looks to be good speed in the race which should see Josh Parr camp just off it before launching in the straight.

Race 8 - 3:35PM AEST VALE LONHRO HANDICAP (1500 METRES)
No. 4 Waterford

Waterford (4) resumes here on the back of two good trials with the most recent seeing him finish a close second to Wategos.

The John O’Shea-trained five-year-old gelding races well fresh in five first-up races having won two and placed third in two others.

His most recent fresh race saw him put in an impressive performance to finish a half-length third to Golden Mile in the Group 2 Theo Marks Stakes.

He has a super record over the course and distance and maps to get a great run for Nash Rawiller.

Race 9 - 4:15PM AEST MATT BEHRMANN HANDICAP (1800 METRES)
No. 4 Andalus

Andalus (4) returned in good order over 1600m at Gosford last start.

The John O’Shea-trained son of Almanzor worked strongly to the line but just couldn’t get past Bethencourt and finished a half-length second.

He’ll strip fitter second-up and he did go within a head of winning over this distance at his second run back last preparation.

There doesn’t look to be a great deal of speed in the race so Dylan Gibbons may look to settle closer than normal.

Race 10 - 4:50PM AEST LUKE LUCAS HANDICAP (1300 METRES)
No. 6 Silent Impact

Silent Impact (6) looks ready for a bold showing first-up following two trials.

The most recent piece of work saw the Waterhouse and Bott-trained son of Maurice work powerfully through the line to win.

He races well fresh having won two of three first-up races including two preparations ago where he savaged the line to win at Randwick.

He maps to get a nice run for Rachel King.
