Alastair Lynch, Anthony Koutoufides, David Zaharakis, and Tom Rockliff along with the golden voice of football Craig Willis have teamed up with Neds to celebrate a new, radical, game-changing concept in footy – Round Round.
Round Round is like no weekend of footy.
While other weekends such as Opening Round, Gather Round, Retro Round, Bring your mates Round, My parents aren’t home come Round, Reach-a-Round, Round the Twist, Round Round by the Sugarbabes, You spin me right Round baby right round like a record baby right round round round and others dominate the football fixture each year – Round Round is different.
Round Round is where teams will wear their normal jumpers, play at their regular home grounds in standard designated timeslots and matches will feature no theme, agenda or special occasion for the day.
“Footy. Just for the sake of playing footy. I’d like to see that!” said the 206 gamer for the Brisbane Lions/Port Adelaide, one-time everyone’s Supercoach captain and 2013 NAB Cup premiership player Tom Rockliff.
Lions threepeat and Tassie football legend Alastair Lynch was stunned when told about the concept “So no actual theme? Just turn up and play! Can you do that these days?”
A man who’s no stranger to the big stage and a challenge, Essendon 226 gamer and 2013 Anzac Day medalist David Zaharakis couldn’t have put it better “I just want footy that plays like real footy.”
Carlton icon Anthony Koutoufides was more than delighted to be part of the launch of Round Round “You know I did play 278 games for Carlton, 1995 premiership, two-time All-Australian, was in the Greek and Italian team of the century, won the AFLPAMVP, state of origin for Victoria, member of the hall of fame but these guys just wanted me to do a joke about the souvlaki hut ad. I hope they pay me soon.”
In a massive scoop for Round Round, the dulcet tones of Craig Willis were secured to voice the commercials “Well ladies and gentlemen, the Australian Football League (of whom we don’t sponsor) in association with its premiere partner Toyota (again, who have no association with Neds but I do happen to drive one) invite you to be part of Round Round. Would you now please be up standing for the national anthem.”
No theme. No occasion. Just footy for the sake of playing footy.
This is Round Round.
Round Round will feature on all of Neds YouTube, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter channels along with the wrap content section on the Neds app.
