Daily Dogs – Tuesday, March 5

Gosford: Race 3 (6:42pm AEDT)
No. 7 Marcus Fire

Marcus Fire should be fast into stride from the wide box.

He looks to have most of this field covered on early speed and is coming off a pair of impressive runner-up efforts – the most recent by only a length last week at Maitland.

The son of Shima Shine is no stranger to winning from Box 7 and is likely to prove hard to catch.

Gosford: Race 5 (7:30pm AEDT)
No. 1 Flying Venus

Flying Venus bolted in to win by a length over the same track and trip on debut last month.

He was unsuited stepping back in distance at The Gardens last week where he was a little flat-footed beaten three lengths.

The lightly-raced son of Wow won from this same box on debut and is likely to land right on the bunny early.

Gosford: Race 8 (8:38pm AEDT)
No. 4 Mrs Chop

Mrs Chop was disappointing two weeks ago over shorter, running second last when stepping back sharply in trip.

She was a distant runner-up the start prior over 603m here at Gosford and appears likely to roll straight to the front and make full use of her early speed.

Aided by the vacant box next door, she’s gone up the rightful favourite for mine.

Gosford: Race 10 (9:22pm AEDT)
No. 8 Covert

Open race, but certainly won Covert can win based on his victory late last week over 400m at The Gardens.

The son of Fernando Bale made full use the inside box, storming 2.5 lengths clear down the straight where he looked to have a bit left to give.

He absolutely loves this trip with five wins next to his name, and I don’t think the wide box will prove too much of a disadvantage considering he likes to race on speed.
