It’s another massive week of mens domestic Australian football!
Round 17 of the 2023/24 A-League season is here and as always, we’ve got you covered for tips in every matchup this week.
I’ve run my eyes over the markets, checked the trends and played a bit of FIFA EAFC 24.
Here is my preview of Round 16 of the 2023/24 A-League Season.
10th plays 12th on Friday night, are you as excited for this one as I am?
The last placed United are $2.05 favourites in this game despite not having a win in their last five A-League games.
It’s pretty grim for Newcastle too, they’re $3.05 to win and have just the four wins on the year so far.
The betting trends suggest a play on the underdog here, Western United FC has lost four of its last five games as a favourite and given that they’re bottom of the ladder. I think the Jets is a smart play here.
Saturday evening the Sky Blues will host the Reds and we should be in for a cracking game.
Sydney are coming off a win to the Mariners and have not lost a game in a month, they are $1.72 favourites over Adelaide who have really struggled so far this season.
Could we see an upset here? The underdog has won four of the last six games between Sydney FC and Adelaide but something tells me that the $4.10 Adelaide United probably won’t be surprising anyone with their performance here.
Sydney to win.
We’ve got ourselves a Melbourne Derby this weekend!
After getting pumped by the Roar last week, City are $2.95 underdogs to the 4th placed Victory.
After competing with the Phoenix for the top of the ladder, the Victory are on a bit of a decline. They’ve drawn four games and lost one in their last five outings.
The Melbourne Derby is always a very heated contest and I’m truly leaning on a crack on City. Melbourne City has won 18 of its last 19 games following a loss.
They don’t stay down for long and look value to me.
We’ve got a late one on Saturday night, the Roar travel to Perth for a rare Saturday evening fixture.
Despite the big win over City, the Roar are underdogs in this game and I don’t think that’s right.
Brisbane will be up and about after last weeks game and I think they’re value at $2.90 especially against a Glory side who are currently sitting second last.
The home team has won seven of the last eight games between Perth and Brisbane so a play on the Glory seems to be what the betting trends saw but I’m sticking with the Roar
Another week where the ‘Nix are massive underdogs despite being on top of the ladder.
Wellington are far too good this year yet the market continues to disrespect them.
I’m taking the ‘Nix
Rounding out the weekend we have the Mariners hosting the Wanderers. 2nd plays 5th.
The Mariners are $1.85 favourites in this one and that’s probably a fair price. They’re second on the ladder for a reason and have looked better this year than WSW who have hit a little funny form patch.
Three of Central Coast’s last four A-League day matches have resulted in a draw and if we’re looking for a bit of value, taking the draw might be where we go in this game.
