All eyes will be on the Gold Coast when enormous purses go on the line on 2024 Magic Millions Day!
It’s always the headline event of summer racing in Australia every year, and we’ll be treated to an incredible eleven races on Saturday.
I’ve run the rule over every galloper engaged, and you can find my complete 2024 Magic Millions Day Tips below.
A wide-open race to kick off Magic Millions Day, but Party Spirit is three wins from as many starts back from a break, and she’s the one for me again.
The daughter of Winning Rupert was an easy winner in maiden company on the Sunshine Coast first-up from a break and has won a pair of tougher races since.
She’s hard fit and this is the perfect feature for her.
As the name suggests, every filly in this race is on debut and there is therefore no form to study, other than trials.
I’m happy to watch, with a view towards something further down the line.
The same race but for the boys and I am going to sit back and enjoy it without an investment as well.
After many near misses throughout his recent preps, Rothfire finally returned to winning form in the slot race out at Toowoomba last time out, and I’m confident he’ll make it two in a row in the Magic Millions QTIS Open.
The Group 1 winner turned back the clock during last year’s Brisbane Winter Carnival, placing in both the Kingsford-Smith Cup and the Stradbroke Handicap most notably, while adding the Victory Stakes to his CV.
Fitter third-up on Saturday, I think he’ll prove extremely difficult to beat again.
There’s a case to be made for a few of them in the Magic Millions Subzero including Sky Lab, who I’ve put on top.
He was unlucky not to strike in Group 1 company during his three-year-old season, and while Sky Lab hasn’t quite returned to those heights, he has still been a very credible performer in Saturday featured company.
It has been a short while since he won a race, but his recent efforts have suggested another victory isn’t far away, and we can have an each way play at current odds ($7 at publish).
There are two horses for me in the Magic Millions Syndicate – favourite Prince Of Boom and Magic Millions specialist, Eleven Eleven.
Prince Of Boom has proven to be a great horse for the leading Rob Heathcote yard since making his debut, but his first two runs back this time have left a little to the imagination.
That being said, this is his major target, and he is reportedly a model of fitness ahead of it.
Eleven Eleven really did pick up the slack after star stablemate Pierata was retired, and he won Magic Millions races in three-consecutive years.
It’s fair to say that his best days are probably behind him, but he is still clearly more than capable of a big effort on his day and was good into second in the Lough Neagh Stakes two back.
King Of Sparta has opened a clear and popular $1.70 favourite in Magic Millions Snippets betting, but that quote is too short for me, and I am instead going to take him on with the consistent Shooting For Gold.
The multiple black type winner is yet to strike in three runs back from a break, but Shooting For Gold is also yet to miss placing, and has been in the finish of each race on a very traditional path towards this.
He’s hard fit, the booking of Mark Zahra is obviously a big boost, and he’s another whom we can have something on each way ($10 at publish).
The first of two highly anticipated $3 million features on the Gold Coast this weekend, and this looms as an intriguing edition of the Magic Millions Classic.
I’ve put Storm Boy on top, but check out my full race preview and complete 2024 Magic Millions Classic Tips RIGHT HERE.
The Magic Millions Guineas honour roll is jam-packed with stars and an open field will chase their share in $3 million on Saturday.
I think that Chrysaor is the one to beat, but you can find all of my thoughts and 2024 Magic Millions Guineas Tips RIGHT HERE.
The Magic Millions Cup is always an outstanding race and Saturday’s edition is no exception.
Loch Eagle has returned to the races in career-best form and he’s going to be the one for me at nice odds ($6 at publish).
He’s always hinted at above-average ability, but Loch Eagle really did start to realise it last autumn when he won a Provincial Championship Qualifier before finishing second in the Final.
This time in, he has continued to improve with each start, and he was last seen winning the lucrative Group 2 Ingham Stakes.
He’s a month between starts, but I think that his residual fitness and class edge takes him a long way towards winning.
Lady Laguna steps out third-up and primed to record another win in the Magic Millions Fillies & Mares.
She has been a strong and consistent performer throughout her career, and Lady Laguna resumed this time with a typically smart run for second in BM88 company before a comfortable win in the Listed Nudgee last time out.
1300m at this point of her prep looks ideal and she just requires luck in running under James McDonald to figure in the finish once more.
