Wellington Phoenix have jumped back to the top of the A-League table after their win over the Jets last week, will we finally see them get some respect in the markets?
Round 15 of the A-League season rolls on this weekend and we’ve got some cracking match ups!
I’ve run my eyes over the markets, checked the trends and played a bit of FIFA EAFC 24.
Here is my preview of Round 15 of the 2023/24 A-League Season.
The Roar will host top of the table Wellington on Friday night and surprise surprise, Wellington still aren’t getting the love they deserve from the bookies.
The Phoenix are $2.70 underdogs against the 9th places, 5-2-8 Brisbane Roar and I’m not going to stop backing the Phoenix.
Wellington has won four of their last five games as an underdog against Brisbane and they are top of the table for a reason.
Wellington all day.
Melbourne City will travel to HBF Park for a late Friday night clash against the Glory.
The early money is with Melbourne, they are $1.80 favourites compared to the Glory’s $4.00 and it’s hard to argue.
Perth have just the one win to their name in their last five games and City keep on rolling.
Melbourne City has won four of their last five away games against Perth and it’s boring and un sexy but I will be taking them to win.
Game one of our Saturday triple header sees current spooners Western United hosting the 7th placed Sydney FC.
To the surprise of absolutely no one, the Sky Blues are short favourites here, $1.80 to United’s $3.80 and I don’t think this matchup needs too much technical analysis.
United are 2-1-10 on the yeah and I can’t see them turning things around this week.
Sydney for 3 points here.
Newy will host the Vics on Saturday afternoon in another clash that bookies are predicting could be a one sided affair.
The Jets are $3.60 underdogs to the Victory’s $1.92 and this is another matchup that I’m not holding hope for the underdogs.
Newcastle are 4-4-7 and have just the one win from their last five games, I don’t see them sneaking a win past the second placed Victory here.
Vics for the win.
The bookies are tipping a close game here but I think the Mariners look great value in this game.
Arguably the form team in the comp at the moment, CCM are unbeaten in their last five games with four wins and a draw.
United on the other hand are struggling this year, they’re 5-3-6 in 8th placed and I’m not quite sure why the bookies have them as $2.40 favourites.
CCM should be too good here and $2.60 is an insane price for them.
Wrapping up Round 15 we have the Bulls hosting the Wanderers and we could see another road victory in the last game of the round.
4th placed Western Sydney are $2.20 favourites over Macarthur but a play on the Bulls might be the way to go in this one.
Western Sydney has lost five of their last six games as an away favourite following a win and given that the Bulls are unbeaten in their last five games, I think that’s enough to sway me to the $2.90 underdogs.
