2023/24 A-League Round 11 Tips & Preview

2023/24 A-League Round 11 Tips & Preview

The New Year is here and we are quickly racing towards the midpoint of the A-League regular season!

The Phoenix and Victory sit atop of the ladder on 20 points each and haven’t the Brisbane Roar taken a turn for the worse recently?

There’s some huge games this weekend and I cannot wait!

I’ve run my eyes over the markets, checked the trends and played a bit of FIFA EAFC 24.

Here is my preview of Round 11 of the 2023/24 A-League Season.

ADELAIDE UNITED V WELLINGTON PHOENIX
Wellington Phoenix @ $3.45

I am starting to sound like a broken record,  but Wellington are a bloody good team this year (I know they lost last week but that was an aberration).

Despite being top of the ladder, the Phoenix are $3.45 underdogs to the eighth placed Adelaide United.

United have only won one of their last five games but the bookies have them picked as the $1.98 favourites.

I’m not buying it, I’m with the ‘Nix.

The underdog has won five of Adelaide’s last six A-League matches at Coopers Stadium and I’ve spoken a lot about how much I love Wellington this year.

MACARTHUR FC V NEWCASTLE JETS
Macarthur H2H @ $2.02

Macarthur will look to break a three game losing streak when they host the Jets at Campbelltown Stadium on Friday night.

The Jets only have three wins to their name this year and are $3.30 to make it four this week.

It’s genuinely hard to split these two sides mainly because of how inconsistent they’ve been of late.

If you like following betting trends, Newcastle has lost four of its last five A-League Week 11 away matches so a play on the $2.02 favourite Bulls wouldn’t be the worst shout.

I think that’s where my money is.

WESTERN SYDNEY WANDERERS FC V CENTRAL COAST MARINERS
Central Coast H2H @ $2.65

Third placed Western Sydney will host the 6th placed Mariners this Saturday.

Don’t let the ladder placement fool you here, CCM are unbeaten in their last six games.

For that reason, the Mariners are very short underdogs at $2.65 compared to WSW $2.45. This one could truly go either way.

Central Coast has won each of its last four A-League night matches and I think this team is really starting to turn it on.

BRISBANE ROAR V SYDNEY FC
Sydney FC H2H @ $2.30

It’s the closest thing we get to State of Origin in the A-League. Brisbane will host Sydney and my god were the Roar dismal last week.

An 8-1 pumping from the Victory and I cannot see Brisbane turning things around in a week here.

Sydney knocked off the top of the table Phoenix last week and look like they’re starting to build some momentum.

Sydney to win at $2.30 looks a great price to me.

PERTH GLORY V MELBOURNE VICTORY
Melbourne Victory H2H @ $1.72

The second placed Melbourne Victory head to Perth for a clash with the Glory who continue to be stuck on the bottom of the A-League ladder.

Just two draws separate them from the last placed Western United and things could get worse for them in this one.

Melbourne have lost each of their last three A-League matches as an away favourite following a win but I don’t think Perth are a chance against them here.

WESTERN UNITED V MELBOURNE CITY
Melbourne City -1 @ $2.80

They just belted the Roar 8-1 and now they get to play the bottom of the ladder Western United.

Melbourne City started the year quite poorly but are clearly starting to hit the form that we know them well for.

United on the other hand have been very bad this year and I don’t think they will come close to this red hot Melbourne outfit.
