Scarlet Prince steps out this week following a tough on-pace performance at Randwick-Kensington, and this does look something of a weaker race.
The Mitch Beer-trained galloper has continued to improve with racing this time in, and he was unlucky to be pipped late, last time out.
He’s hard fit and in my opinion, there isn’t a better frontrunning jockey in the country than Timmy Clark.
Group 1 winner Royal Merchant has opened a popular favourite in betting for the 3&4YO feature, and I think she’ll take a power of beating.
The Merchant Navy mare went to a new level last time in, picking off the Group 2 Euclase Stakes before repeating the dose in The Goodwood at Morphettville.
She’s yet to strike in three starts back this time but has improved noticeably with each, and I like that she has been back to the trials since her most recent effort for fourth in Group 2 company.
She looks to have this lot covered for class, and it’s another ideal feature race for her.
This looms as one of the strongest editions of the Wyong Magic Millions 2YO Classic since its inception, but Spywire does look very hard to beat.
Spywire has made only one appearance at the races so far, but he absolutely blew them away at Rosehill on debut, and I’m only expecting improvement for that effort.
I’m going to select him as the winner in a Same Race Multi today and pump up my odds with Highness running into the first three.
Same Race Multi selections:
- 4 Spywire (Win)
- 2 Highness (Top 3)
Bojangles returned an eye-catching winner here at Wyong late last month and can go on with it in the last at Wyong today.
The Showtime gelding turned in two competitive performances during his debut preparation, but clearly took big benefit from his time away from racing when he returned an easy winner.
This is harder and he’ll need some luck in running from the wide draw, but I’m confident that he’s up to it.
