Daily Racing Tips – Saturday, December 30

Eaglemont has been freshened after running on strongly to finish second by a nose over 2000m at Rosehill four weeks ago.  

The Matt Dunn-trained seven-year-old gelding has been racing in terrific form and won over a mile at Eagle Farm three starts ago.  

Despite carrying 61kg, he stormed home to easily win by 1.3 lengths.  

In a telling move, Dunn has booked Blake Shinn to take the ride who should be able to give him an economical run from an inside gate. 

Show Me Mercy returned in great order in the Listed Gold Edition Plate last start.  

The Stu Kendrick-trained Atern gelding caught the eye charging to the line in the 1200m contest to finish a head third to Abounding.  

That was his third win from five starts and he’ll only have taken improvement from the run.  

The rise to 1350m looks ideal second-up and he maps to get a beautiful run for Michael Rodd. 

Peace Treaty is well placed under the set weight conditions of the race being the only horse to have won more than one contest.  

The three-year-old filly impressively won by 4.5 lengths on debut before being sent to the paddock.  

She recently returned with a good effort against Open class horse before running on strongly despite being held up to win over 1200m at Mornington last start.  

Any sting out of the ground will be appreciated and Damian Lane should give her a beautiful run from barrier 1. 

Step Aside was scratched from a winnable race earlier on the card in preference for this.  

The Chris Waller-trained four-year-old gelding was a strong winner when despite being held up, he stormed to the line to win first-up over 1300m at Rosehill.  

Unfortunately, he wasn’t as lucky last start when held up badly for the majority of the straight over this course and distance.  

He only got clear with 100m to go but savaged the line to finish a head second.   

He’ll strip fitter and did win third-up last preparation.
