2023/24 A-League Round 10 Tips & Preview

2023/24 A-League Round 10 Tips & Preview

It’s the last A-League football for 2023!

What a huge year it’s been for Australian football already – and I get the feeling we could be in for a couple more blockbuster moments before 2024 rolls in.

With nine rounds under our belt, we’re starting to get a decent understanding of where every team is at this year and we’re set for some massive games this weekend.

I’ve run my eyes over the markets, checked the trends and played a bit of FIFA EAFC 24.

Here is my preview of Round 10 of the 2023/24 A-League Season.

MELBOURNE CITY V BRISBANE ROAR
Melbourne City @ $1.75

Melbourne City’s ambitions to climb back into the top end of the ladder has stalled in the last two weeks with draws against the Victory and Mariners.

Meanwhile in the Brisbane camp, what looked like a great start to the season could all come crashing down with the immediate departure of Coach Ross Aloisi.

The Roar are $4.25 underdogs to pick up three points this week and are looking to break a two game losing streak.

It’s not going to be easy for them down at AAMI Park, Melbourne City has won its last eight A-League home matches against Brisbane.

It’s starting to look like the Brisbane Roar we know and love.

City to win.

SYDNEY FC V WELLINGTON PHOENIX
Phoenix/Draw Double Chance @ $1.80

I say it every week, when are the bookies going to learn that the Phoenix are a bloody good team.

Top of the table Wellington head into this fixture as massive $4.10 underdogs which is just bizarre to me, how is a team that’s lost just one game this year such a gross outsider.

Wellington got it done last week with two late winners over WSW and I refuse to believe that the third last Sydney FC are deserving of their $1.78 price.

Have a crack on the Phoenix on the nose but the Wellington/Draw double chance looks like a no brainer this week.

NEWCASTLE JETS V WESTERN UNITED
Newcastle Jets H2H @ $2.15

Newy will host the bottom of the table Western United this week and I’m starting to think the Roar might be the only team United beat this year.

United have some serious problems at the back, they’ve allowed 21 goals in nine games this year and have just seven to their name so far.

Newcastle look like a bit of value at $2.15, lets move on.

MELBOURNE VICTORY V ADELAIDE UNITED
Draw @ $4.00

Adelaide picked up the three points over Newcastle last week but outside of that, they have not lived up to their expectations so far this season.

The Reds are a jaw dropping $4.25 against the 2nd placed Melbourne Victory but I’m not sure if the bookies have it right.

Four of Melbourne Victory’s last five A-League night matches have resulted in a draw so the draw looks like the play to me for this match.

CENTRAL COAST MARINERS V PERTH GLORY
Central Coast Mariners -1 @ $2.38

Despite sitting eighth on the ladder, the Central Coast Mariners are unbeaten in their last five games.

They’ve drawn second last Perth Glory this week and the bookies like them to make that a six game unbeaten streak.

The Mariners put three past the Roar in a very wet affair last week and I can see them running up the score against this Perth team who’ve conceded 17 goals in just nine games.

Over 2.5 Goals market has hit in each of Central Coast’s last six A-League matches and I like it to be one way traffic this weekend.

WESTERN SYDNEY WANDERERS V MACARTHUR FC
WSW @ $1.78

The first A-League football of the New Year sees what should be a pretty exciting clash as third placed WSW will host the fourth placed Macarthur.

Both these sides copped Ls last week but the Wanderers are the side the bookies are tipping to bounce back.

Western Sydney are $1.78 favourites to Macarthur’s $4.10.

Macarthur have been the leakier side in defence this year, allowing15 goals compared to the Wanderers 10 while both sides have scored 16 goals.

That’s the stat that splits these two sides for me, the Wanderers, if they show up, should get this done.
