2023/24 A-League Round 6 Tips & Preview

2023/24 A-League Round 6 Tips & Preview

Round 6 of the A-League 2023/24 Season is here, did you follow along with Round 5? What an absolute fill up we had!

We went 4/6 last week can we keep this good momentum rolling?!

There were some very spicy match ups last week with the ‘Nix upsetting City (which we picked) and a late Macarthur own goal that say Victory and the Bulls share points.

This week doesn’t disappoint either, I’ve run my eyes over the markets, checked the trends and played a bit of FIFA EAFC 24.

Here is my preview of Round 6 of the 2023/24 A-League Season

BRISBANE ROAR v WESTERN SYDNEY WANDERERS FC
Roar H2H @ $2.40

For the first time it what feels like 10 years (probably over dramatic but who knows?) The Brisbane Roar are favourites over the team currently on top of the table.

I’ve been saying it all season, the Roar are sexy again. They’re 3-1-1 and suddenly are playing with so much more flare and excitement.

This game should be a cracker, the Wanderers aren’t scrubs by any definition. They’ve earned their top of the table spot being unbeaten in their first five games.

The last three times these two teams have met, it’s been a draw and that was when the Roar were not very good.

The betting trends don’t give us much insight this week. Both Teams to Score’ has hit in each of Brisbane’s last seven A-League Week 6 matches and over 2.5 Goals’ market has hit in each of Brisbane’s last five A-League Week 6 matches.

I’m sticking with the favourite here, Roar to win.

WESTERN UNITED V WELLINGTON PHOENIX
Wellington H2H @ $3.15

There’s only two games on this Saturday, we get the double header started off in beautiful Ballarat where Western United will host the second placed (and unbeaten) Phoenix.

United have lost four on the trot and are currently dead last in the A-League. They have three goals in five weeks and have conceded 11 but somehow are $2.00 favourites to beat the Nix.

I’m not buying it I’m sorry. Wellington just beat Melbourne City at home and now get to play the team that’s conceded the second most amount of goals in the league.

Wellington at $3.15 is insane value if you ask me, especially when you consider that the underdog has won four of the last five games between Western United FC and Wellington and the underdog for this game is undefeated and second on the ladder.

Jump on the Phoenix before the bookies clue on.

SYDNEY FC V PERTH GLORY
Under 2.5 Goals @ $2.50

The Sky Blues boast a shocking record of 1-0-4 to start their campaign. For a team that’s always up the pointy end, they’ve been incredibly disappointing to start the year.

Sydney however come into this game as $1.60 favourites over the 1-13 Glory. Is this the matchup that Sydney needs to turn their campaign around?

Sydney have gotten the better of Perth 2 out of the last three times these sides have met with a draw in their as well.

There is a case to be made for Perth however, the underdog has won four of Sydney FC’s last five A-League matches.

Given how poor Sydney have been infront of goal, it’s not the worst shout.

For me though, I’m with under 2.5 Goals @ $2.50, under 2.5 Goals’ market has hit in each of Sydney FC’s last four A-League home matches and both of the teams have rather small for and againsts.

CENTRAL COAST MARINERS v MELBOURNE VICTORY
Victory H2H @ $2.60

They won their first game of the year last week and now the reigning premiers are $2.45 favourites this week!

The Victory came out of the gates flying with wins over Sydney FC and the Jets but it’s been three draws in a row since and two red cards to top it all off.

The Vics will be without Adama Traore this week after he was rewarded an early shower for a dangerous boot in their game against Macarthur.

The Victory are $2.60 outsiders to walk away with three points and that’s where y money is. The underdog has won five of Central Coast’s last six A-League matches and Victory seem the better side on Paper to me.

MACARTHUR FC v ADELAIDE UNITED
Adelaide H2H @ $2.45

The Reds are just one point off the top of the table at the time of writing (that might change after the Roar v WSW game) and will travel to Macarthur for what the bookies are tipping should be another close game.

Adelaide have been my pick all season to win the comp and while Macarthur have greatly improved, I think the task of overcoming an Adelaide outfit with 14 goals in five games could be a bit too much for them.

These sides are 3-2 in their last five games (Adelaide’s way) and I like the Reds to make that 4-2.

NEWCASTLE JETS v MELBOURNE CITY FC
Jets H2H @ $3.60

The underperforming Melbourne City will head to Newcastle this weekend in an effort to turn their fortunes around.

Last years runners up and almost locks to be in the finals each season are currently 1-1-3 on the year with the most goal conceded in the league.

Despite their horror start, City are still $1.90 favourites and if you simulated this game on EAFC 24. City would win it.

This is not a video game however, this is an underperforming Melbourne City side.

Newcastle haven’t played that much better, they’re 1-2-2 and are also tied for the most goal conceded in the league.

Things could go from bad to worse here for City, the underdog has won five of Melbourne City’s last seven A-League matches at McDonald Jones Stadium.

Let’s take the Jets.
