France can compete a clean sweep of Group A by beating Italy on Saturday morning, and betting suggests that’s exactly what is going to happen.
They were great against New Zealand first-up and put themselves in prime position to top the group, and comfortable wins over Uruguay and Namibia since have all but confirmed it.
Wins over Namibia and Uruguay of their own had Italy entering last weekend undefeated. In stepped the All Blacks, and their World Cup dream is now all but over.
I think France will win again, but Italy was truly too ghastly last week to believe, and I think they’ll be a lot better on Saturday.
Wales can sew up top spot in Group B by beating Georgia.
While they were lucky to hold on against Fiji first-up, the Welsh have improved noticeably since, beating both Portugal and Australia well. They’ll almost certainly rest players for this one, but they are classes above Georgia regardless.
While yet to record a win of their own, Georgia have been competitive at the 2023 Rugby World Cup, and I don’t think there’s any doubt they’ll show some backbone in this one as well.
