Fiji can all but assure themselves an historic progression to the knockout stage of the Rugby World Cup by justifying their clear market favouritism against Georgia on Sunday.
They did lose their campaign opener to Wales, but in my opinion, Fiji have been the standouts of Group C. It was a dropped ball late that separated them from the Welsh, while they were far too good for the Wallabies at their last. They step out this weekend in peak condition, and a class or two better than Georgia.
Georgia’s campaign opener against Australia was actually quite tough in my opinion, but they were held to a draw by Portugal at their only other game so far, a match that I believe they should have won easily.
Sunday’s extremely one-sided affair looks like materialising between Scotland and Romania.
I didn’t expect Romania to win a match in France, but they have suffered some truly enormous defeats already, falling 82-8 to Ireland and 76-0 to South Africa. While Scotland are a little weaker than those opponents, they are still and extremely daunting prospect.
Scotland meanwhile are 1-1 after losing to South Africa, but beating Tonga. I don’t think they’ll progress, but they’ll certainly win this, and probably put on a show in the process.
