Scotland vs Tonga (1:45am)
Tonga (+24.5)

The market wouldn’t have you believe so, but I think we might be in for a sneaky good contest when Scotland takes on Tonga early on Monday morning.

The Scots lost their World Cup opener against South Africa, but they did return a tough and competitive performance, and they were by no means blown out of the water.

Tonga also lost their first match in France, going down 59-16 to Ireland, but they result really did only blow out late in the picture, and I am confident that they will improve for that hit-out.

Of course, Scotland deserves their favouritism ahead of this one, but I really am expecting Tonga to put up another fight.

Wales vs Australia (5am)
Australia to Win ($2)

Well, this is it. Australia’s chances of progression rest on the result of this clash with fellow Pool A heavyweights Wales.

The Wallabies were too good for Georgia in their World Cup opener, but were forced to deal with injuries second-up, and slumped to their first defeat to Fiji since the 1950s. To be fair, I really rate this Fijian side, and they were unlucky not to beat Wales as well, but Australia simply need to improve tenfold and find the best, to avoid their first ever exit at the Pool stage.

Wales meanwhile are two from two, having survived their scare against Fiji before doing away with Portugal. They did rest a few in the latter game, but I still thought that 28-8 wasn’t a particularly impressive scoreline.

I’m backing the Wallabies to man amends and win this one, to keep alive their hopes of progression to the knockout phase of the tournament.
