Two weeks of football under our belts and we’re starting to get an idea of how all 32 teams will look this year.
Week 3 is set to be another cracker with some very exciting matchups across the board.
I’ve run my eyes over each market, simulated each game in Madden and checked the waiver wire for fantasy studs.
Here is my preview of Week 3 of the NFL.
Yikes
The 2-0 49ers will host the 1-1 Giants for TNF and we could very easily see the biggest beatdown of the week in this one.
The Giants came back from a 28 point defecit last week to beat the Cardinals but a team as strong as San Francisco isn’t going to give you a sniff if they’re up by four scores.
To top things off, the Giants main man on offense, Saquon Barkley has been ruled out already with an ankle injury.
It’s impossible to say who will move the chains for New York, my bet is no one.
The Giants have given running backs big stat lines so far this season (Pollard: 14 Car, 70 Yds, 2 Tds, Conner: 23 Car, 106 Yds, 1 Td) I will be backing Christian McCaffery, arguably one of the best RBs in the league to have a big day out.
His over under is 82.5 but I’m backing him for 100 yards at $3.00.
Brock Purdy’s favourite pass catcher Brandon Aiyuk may not play in this one so overs on Deebo Samuel’s yards and a touchdown wouldn’t be awful either.
SGM $7.00
- 49ers -10 @ $1.90
- Christian McCaffrey 100+ Rushing Yards @ $3.00
- Deebo Samuel Over 54.5 Receiving Yards @ $1.90
Anytime Touchdown Tips
- Christian McCaffrey Anytime Touchdown Scorer @ $1.40
- George Kittle Anytime Touchdown Scorer @ $2.65
I really enjoyed watching Deshaun Watson struggle in the prime time game last week.
The Browns are a team with a serious identity crisis at the moment and without Nick Chubb to steady the ship, I don’t like their chances against the Titans.
The Titans won a shootout last week against the Chargers and I think they are value to win in this one at $2.40, I think the bookies don’t realise how big of an out Nick Chubb is for the Browns
My Bets
- Tennessee Titans H2H @ $2.40
- Derrick Henry Anytime Touchdown Scorer
- Treylon Burks 60+ Receiving Yards
Zach Wilson and the Jets will host a Patriots side that I have not given enough credit to so far this season.
Shows you how much I pay attention to defence, the Pats D has really kept them competitive this season and should be the difference maker in this game.
Wilson threw 3 picks last week and Breece Hall only touched the ball four times, I expect him to see more work in this one but I like the Patriots with a -2.5 handicap.
My Bets
- New England Patriots -2.5 @ $1.90
- Breece Hall 60+ Rushing Yards
- Rhamondre Stevenson Anytime Touchdown Scorer
The Colts will more than likely be without rookie QB Anthony Richardson who suffered a concussion in last weeks win against the Texans.
It’s going to be an uphill battle for Indianapolis who take on a red hot Baltimore outfit.
Lamar and the Ravens improved on their Week 1 showing and I like them to win this one in a big way.
Mark Andrews and Zay Flowers should feast against a defence that allowed 384 pass yards to rookie QB CJ Stroud last week
My Bets
- Ravens 14+ @ $2.40
- Mark Andrews 60+ Receiving Yards
- Mark Andrews Anytime TD Scorer
- Zay Flowers 70+ Receiving Yards
The Packers will host New Orleans in a game that should be quite interesting.
The Packers are yet to play as a full strength outfit yet and may not be quite full strength this week either with Aaron Jones still not training.
The Saints pass game has been incredibly exciting as well both Olave and Michael Thomas have been cooking so far this season.
I think I’m with the Saints in a close match up here, the Saints are very light on in running backs this week so I like them to air the ball out. I’m bullish on the receivers this week.
My Bets
- New Orleans Saints H2H @ $2.10
- Michael Thomas Anytime Touchdown Scorer
- Either Chris Olave or Michael Thomas To Have 75+ Receiving Yards (Great new market that we offer)
Detroit were very unlucky not to win against the Seahawks last week but they are showing some very good things and I like their defense against a Falcons team that is incredible one dimensional
It’s not a hot take to say that Bijan Robinson is already one of the best running backs in the league, some of the runs he made against the Packers last week genuinely took your breath away.
However if all their going to do is hand him the ball, teams will start to scheme into that and shut him down.
Lions at the line here
My Bets
- Detroit Lions -3 @ $1.82
- Jahmyr Gibbs 60+ Rushing Yards
- Jahmyr Gibbs Anytime Touchdown
As predicted, the Bills bounced back in a big way last week against the Raiders and I’d imagine that they do naughty things to this Commies side.
Yes the Commanders are 2-0 at the moment but they aren’t quite on the same level as Buffalo.
Last week we saw the true breakout of James Cook and his receiving markets will be worth looking at, the bookies have had his over under incredibly low the last two weeks and if they don’t clue on to how much he gets involved in the bass game, I’ll be hammering his line once again.
Brian Robinson is also emerging as a machine for the Commanders, although he is the only part of that offense that sparks any joy for me.
My Bets
- Bills -6.5 @ $1.90
- James Cook 20+ Receiving Yards
- James Cook Anytime Touchdown Scorer
Man.
The Jags went missing last week.
I was so excited for that Jags v Chiefs game and what a stinker it turned out to be.
Hopefully Lawrence and the Jags can turn things around against a Texans outfit that has allowed six rushing touchdowns so far this season.
The Texans have no answer for the run at the moment so I am all about Travis Etienne this week, I might even back him to score twice.
My Bets
- Jacksonville 14+ @ $2.45
- Travis Etienne Anytime TD Scorer $1.80
- Travis Etienne to score 2 TDs @ $4.25
They didn’t run away with it like I thought last week but a win is indeed a win.
The Dolphins will host the 0-2 Broncos this week in a matchup that could be quite close.
The Broncos do have the team to win this year, I just think they’ve been done a bit dirty, they should’ve gone to overtime last week but the refs did not call a blatant pass interference.
This should be a close game but I’m towards the Dolphins, I really like what they’re building this season.
My Bets
- Dolphins 1-12 @ $2.30
- Tyreek Hill 80+ Yards
- Jaylen Waddle Anytime Touchdown Scorer
This is my game of the week, we should be in for a shoot out here.
Both of these teams have been humming offensively this season but have not been able to stop the other side.
This gets me really excited for all things receiving yards markets.
Kirk Cousins is on pace to throw for 6000+ yards this season and Justin Herbert wouldn’t be far behind him either.
I will be taking overs for their yardage markets as well as 100 Yards for both Justin Jefferson and Keenan Allen.
As for who wins this one? I can’t split them.
I’m taking the overs market and just hoping for a high scoring game.
My Bets
- Over 53.5 Points @ $1.90
- Kirk Cousins 250+ Passing Yards
- Justin Herbert 300+ Passing Yards
- Justin Jefferson 100+ Receiving Yards
- Keenan Allen 100+ Receiving Yards
Seattle will host a Carolina side that is struggling to do anything offensively.
Rookie Quarterback Bryce Young leads the league in accurate throws to open receivers but is second last in number of throws to open receivers.
Meaning, his boys ain’t getting open.
The Seahawks have an incredible secondary and are likely to make Young’s life hell once again.
Give me the Seahawks to cover and a DK Metcalf TD
My Bets
- Seattle Seahawks -6.5 @ $1.90
- DK Metcalf Anytime Touchdown
- Ken Walker 50+ Rushing Yards
I think it’s officially time to say that Dallas is the best defence in the league, the 49ers are a close second but this Cowboys outfit is different.
They had 3 interceptions on Zach Wilson last week, I reckon they may get a few here.
Cowboys 14+, Pollard Overs on his Rushing Yards and give me a defensive TD
My Bets
- Dallas Cowboys 14+ @ $1.90
- Cowboys D/ST Anytime Touchdown Scorer @ $5.40
- Tony Pollard 60+ Rushing Yards
The Chiefs are just $1.14 to beat the Chicago Bears in this earlyish morning matchup (for us Australian fans).
The Bears have some big problems, mainly at quarterback and I can’t imagine they will turn things around against a Chiefs team that should be back to full strength this week.
The line is set at 12.5. Give me the Chiefs 14+ for some extra value, I’ll take a Kelce TD and 60+ yards for Pacheco.
The Bears defence has given up large yardage to RBs
My Bets
- Chiefs 14+ @ $1.88
- Travis Kelce Anytime Touchdown Scorer
- Isaiah Pacheco 60+ Rushing Yards
I don’t know how but the Raiders are currently on top of the AFC West.
They are $1.70 favourites to beat the Steelers and are probably where my money lies.
The Steelers were quite lucky to win against the Browns on MNF, their play calling is atrocious and if it wasn’t for their defense, they would not have been in that game at all.
Jimmy G with his full set of weapons in week 1 was great, he’ll get Jakobi Meyers back this week and it looks like Davantae Adams has escaped concussion protocol.
The Raiders pass catchers could eat.
My Bets
- Raiders H2H @ $1.70
- Jakobi Meyers Anytime Touchdown Scorer
- Davantae Adams 80+ Receiving Yards
Once again we have two games to choose from on Tuesday.
Baker and the Buccaneers will host the Eagles who are coming off a high scoring win against the Vikings.
The Eagles should get it done but the 5 point line really intrigues me as I think the Buccaneers could be the real deal this year.
Both these sides have beaten the Vikings this season and I think this could be a close game.
My Bets
- Philadelphia Eagles 1-13 @ $2.30
- AJ Brown 60+ Receiving Yards
- Mike Evans 60+ Receiving Yards
- Jalen Hurts Anytime Rushing TD
Rounding out Week 3 is a replay of Super Bowl LVI.
Are the Bengals an actual contender this year?
Starting the season 0-3 would make it bloody difficult to claw back into the playoffs.
The Rams on the other hand have surprised a lot of people this season and could themselves be a playoff contender with a win here.
Joe Burrow’s calf injury is one to monitor, at the time of writing it looks like he should be sweet to play but it’s a nasty injury that could make it a lot harder to throw.
My Bets
- Over 43.5 Points @ $1.90
- Joe Mixon 60+ Rushing Yards
- Joe Mixon Anytime Touchdown
- Puka Nacua 80+ Receiving Yards
We went 4/5 last week, all we needed was 30 yards from Tyreek Hill and we had it until the pass was under thrown by Tua and intercepted by Christian Gonzales
You best believe we’re having another crack this week, I’ve studied the match ups fairly closely this week to give you punters another fantasy team
Just to recap in week 2 we had: ✓
- Quarterback: Josh Allen Over 250+ Passing Yards ✓
- Runningback: Saquon Barkley 60+ Rushing Yards ✓
- Runningback: Derrick Henry 60+ Rushing Yards ✓
- Wide Receiver: Keenan Allen 60+ Receiving Yards ✓
- Wide Receiver: Tyreek Hill 80+ Receiving Yards X
- Multi: $7.48
Week 3’s Fantasy team looks like this:
- Quarterback: Patrick Mahomes Over 250+ Passing Yards
- Runningback: Tony Pollard 60+ Rushing Yards
- Runningback: Travis Etienne 60+ Rushing Yards
- Wide Receiver: Amon-Ra St Brown 60+ Receiving Yards
- Wide Receiver: Stefon Diggs 60+ Receiving Yards
