Canterbury: Race 1 (12:50pm)
No. 1 Magic

This is one of the easiest tasks that the well-bred Magic has been set since debuting, and he’s the one for me in the first at Canterbury today.

Magic is a seven-start maiden, but five of those starts have been in black type company, including the Group 2 Hobartville Stakes back in February this year.

He’s had the benefit of a trial in the lead-up to today’s return and he has an experience edge over a lot of these rivals.

Sandown: Race 4 (2:10pm)
No. 2 Coriolis

Coriolis has returned to the races in excellent form and strikes another winnable one today at Sandown.

The Lonhro filly broke her maiden at Newcastle in her first start back, before filling the minors in BM64 company second-up.

Having returned to winning form with a career-best performance to date here at Sandown last time out, something like this looks the next logical target for her.

Canterbury: Race 6 (3:45pm)
No. 4 Lancaster Bomber

Lancaster Bomber is as tough as nails and is still up to winning something of this quality.

The Denman gelding has been up and racing for some time, but he has continued to return competitive performances recently and was last seen filling the minors in a Saturday midway race.

He’s in peak order and we can have an each way play at current odds ($8.50 at publish).

Canterbury: Race 7 (4:20pm)
No. 5 Media Starguest

Media Starguest only just missed in a similar race at Randwick-Kensington at his latest and steps out today in peak order.

The Rubick gelding has stripped fitter with each of his three runs back from a break, and he hit the line with intent to finish a nostril second behind Super Friendship.

He’s drawn a peach today under Tyler Schiller and should relish the rain-affected track.
