Daily Racing Tips – Mackay Newmarket Day Edition

Mackay: Race 3 (1:51pm)
No. 2 Caldante

Caldante only just missed breaking his maiden at Townsville last time out, and I am confident he’ll get the monkey off his back today in Mackay.

The So You Think gelding was a consistent performer for Stuart Kendrick last time in without recording an elusive win, and the move to regional Queensland does look a smart one for him.

He steps out today in peak order and I don’t think he’ll get a better opportunity than this.

Mackay: Race 6 (3:38pm)
No. 1 Ready For Magic

Mackay specialist Ready For Magic steps out today in peak order and will prove tough to beat again, even with a heavy weight.

The Better Than Ready gelding won four races in succession here through March and May, and he has filled the minors at each of his last two.

I’m confident that his class edge will take him a long way towards winning again.

Mackay: Race 7 (4:18pm)
No. 2 Doctor Zous

He hasn’t shown his best in three starts back this time, but I’m still pretty keen on Doctor Zous in the Mackay Newmarket.

Doctor Zous has returned plenty of good performances for Darryl Hansen throughout his career, and the three races that he has contested this time probably boasted more depth than this race.

I think he’ll be stepping out today in peak order and has drawn really well under Boris Thornton.

Mackay: Race 8 (4:53pm)
No. 5 Arctic Wolf

Arctic Wolf has recorded two wins from as many starts since transferring to the care of Georgie Holt and he strikes another winnable race today at Mackay.

The Sebring gelding was given a quit trial at Townsville in May, but charged home to record a near six-length win at the same track a couple of weeks later.

Having repeated the dose in BM70 company last time, something like this looks the next logical step for him!
