Bendigo: Race 1 (12:25pm)
No. 8 Nightingale

Nightingale returned a nice performance to finish second on debut earlier this month, and she looks well placed to go one better today at Bendigo.

The Epaulette filly didn’t show a lot at the trials prior to debuting, but she was taken forward by Craig Newitt at Moe a couple of weeks ago and was only denied by an impressive Material Dreams.

She strips fitter for that experience and is drawn to receive every chance today under in-form apprentice Celine Gaudray.

Hawkesbury: Race 2 (12:45pm)
No. 6 The Professor

I thought that the way The Professor let down late to fill the minors at Wyong last time was impressive, and he can break his maiden this afternoon at Hawkesbury.

The Professor finished down the order after racing greenly on debut at Kembla Grange last month, but has improved noticeably with each of his two subsequent starts.

He steps out today a picture of health and can settle a little closer in running from Barrier 6.

Hawkesbury: Race 5 (2:35pm)
No. 4 Announcing

Announcing will take plenty of benefit into his second campaign start at Hawkesbury today and can continue her rise through the grades.

The Press Statement filly enjoyed a competitive debuting prep earlier this year, breaking her maiden at Gosford most notably, while I thought she was decent when fourth, beaten just over a length and a half in Class 1 company at Newcastle when resuming.

She’s drawn to receive a lovely run today under Tyler Schiller and takes 4kgs from the topweight.

Bendigo: Race 9 (4:30pm)
No. 5 Runpukya

Runpukya faces a rise in class into the last at Bendigo today, but he simply couldn’t have been more impressive last time out, and this does look the next logical step for him.

The Trust In A Gust gelding raced greenly on debut back in February and was immediately put away, but he returned for a dominant five-length win over 1200m at Swan Hill earlier this month.

With natural improvement, I can’t find a reason why he won’t be in the finish.
