best bet
Rosehill: Race 5 (1:20pm)
No. 3 Mogo Magic

Mogo Magic puts an unbeaten record on the line when he resumes in today’s Highway Handicap, and he’s going to take a power of beating again.

The Duporth gelding won both starts during his debut prep by a combined 11 lengths and returned in February to easily account for a Highway field at Randwick.

A recent trial way eye-catching and I can’t find a reason why he won’t be in the finish.

Sunshine Coast: Race 4 (2:07pm)
No. 1 Golden Boom

Golden Boom rates as a key winning chance in Race 4 at the Sunny Coast this afternoon.

The Spirit Of Boom gelding was excellent during his debut prep back in summer, winning the Gold Edition Plate most notably, and he did win a talent-rich contest at Doomben two starts back, beating home the likes of Spacewalk and Lady Laguna.

He was last seen filling the minors in Listed company and will relish this drop in class.

Sunshine Coast: Race 6 (3:23pm)
No. 1 Luncies

Luncies is on the short back-up from a dominant win in the Tattersall’s Cup at Eagle Farm last week, and I completely understand the decision to go around again in the Caloundra Cup.

The Iffraaj gelding was excellent throughout the Melbourne Spring Carnival last year and was unlucky not to win a couple of nice feature races.

After going close a few times at the beginning of this prep, his return to winning form last week was very impressive, and I think he’ll be equally difficult to knock off today.

Flemington: Race 9 (4:40pm)
No. 4 Brung King

Brung King is chasing a hat-trick when he takes his place in the last at HQ today.

The Henry Dwyer-trained gelding has actually won three of his last four starts, but his last two have been particularly smart.

A mile at Flemington suits, and I can’t find a reason why he won’t be in the finish.
