The final Group 1 feature race of the season headlines Saturday’s nine-race program at Eagle Farm!
The Tattersall’s Tiara is always a highlight of the Brisbane winter, and another quality and open edition of the race has materialised.
You can find my selection for that race and remaining 2023 Tattersall’s Tiara Day Tips below!
Right To Party takes winning form in the first on Tattersall’s Tiara Day and this looks a nice bit of black type for her.
The Zoustar filly finished third on debut at Cranbourne last month, and after returning to the trials, arrived in Brisbane for an easy win in maiden company earlier this month.
With further improvement and in this small field, it all lines up!
I’m going to stick with Ekaterina at Eagle Farm on Saturday.
The Russian Revolution filly was a smart winner at Doomben three back and hasn’t enjoyed the best of luck at her last two, but there is no doubt that this is a big drop in class from each.
She’s in peak order and is drawn to receive every chance under Timmy Clark.
Luncies is clearly the class horse engaged in the Tattersall’s Cup field in my opinion, and I think he’s going to take a power of beating.
The Ifraaj gelding was excellent in some good Melbourne Spring Carnival races last year, and he finished second at each of his first two runs back this time, including the Lord Mayors Cup behind Without A Fight.
He’s in peak order this week and hard fit after running fourth in the Q22 last time out, and this is a decent drop in class from that race.
This is almost always the toughest race to analyse on the Tattersall’s Tiara program and this year’s edition doesn’t look like being an exception!
That being said, Coat Of Arms looks to have the talent, he just needs luck from a wide draw!
The I Am Invincible gelding hasn’t finished worse than second in four starts back this time, winning a couple of races in Roma and only just missing at his last two.
He’s another that steps out in peak order, and we can have an each way play at around the $8 mark.
Character is the one for me in this year’s Tattersall’s Mile.
The Godolphin galloper has mixed his form a little this time in, but I keep looking back to his performance and win at Listed level here in Brisbane two starts back.
There’s no doubt that he is a picture of fitness this week, while Ryan Maloney retained the ride.
I’m backing Princess Rhaenys to bounce back over the longer trip at Eagle Farm this week.
I thought that she was disappointingly flat at her latest appearance, but Princess Rhaenys’ form prior to that run was very promising, and she hit the line impressively for second in the Pam O’neill two starts back.
She drops slightly in the weights this week and I think it’s actually a far better race for her.
The final Group 1 feature race of the season has drawn a typically strong and open field of fillies and mares.
I’ve put Chain Of Lightning on top, but check out my full race preview and 2023 Tattersall’s Tiara Tips RIGHT HERE.
Another horse that I am going to stick with despite a flat last-start effort is Quantico.
Quantico has been a great horse for John O’Shea for a couple of years now, and he has picked off some lovely races.
He was still fifth in the Group 2 Moreton Cup last time, but his fresh effort in the Ortensia was unlucky not to herald a win, and he gets another chance third-up this week.
Swiss Exile has been knocking on the door of another win, and I think that he can get it on Tattersall’s Tiara Day.
The Pariah colt has recorded just one victory from his fifteen career starts, but flashed late in the TL Cooney at Ipswich last week to only just miss.
He’s rock-hard fit, I like that he’s on the short back up, and he might not be offered a better opportunity in Saturday metro company.
