2023 Prince Of Wales’s Stakes Tips

Just one Group 1 feature race will take place on Day 2 of Royal Ascot, and six horses have accepted for the Prince Of Wales’s Stakes.

Won by Cox Plate champion State Of Rest last year, the Prince Of Wales’s Stakes honour roll is nothing short of outstanding, and it as been claimed by some of the best horses ever to step out.

Who joins that list tonight? Read on to my 2023 Prince Of Wales’s Stakes Tips to find out who I think it will be!

Suggested Bets

  • 4 Units straight out #4 Luxembourg
  • Boxed Trifecta of the selections below
Prince Of Wales's Stakes - Winner
No. 4 Luxembourg

I think that Prince Of Wales’s Stakes betting just about has this one correct, and Luxembourg deserves his $3 favouritism (at publish).

Luxembourg has been a strong and consistent performer for champion Irish horseman Aidan O’Brien since making his debut, and he dusted off the cobwebs with a credible effort for fifth in Group 2 company at The Curragh last month before winning the Group 1 Tattersalls Gold Cup.

Fitter third-up and under Ryan Moore, I can’t find a reason why he won’t be in the finish again.

Prince Of Wales's Stakes - 2nd
No. 1 Adayar

Adayar looks to be the biggest threat to Luxembourg in the Prince Of Wales’s Stakes.

The Frankel entire has recorded five wins and three second placings from his eleven career starts to date, returning last month to record a dominant win at Group 3 level.

This is obviously a rise in class, but he rarely performs poorly, and he is certainly up to winning another Group 1 feature.

Prince Of Wales's Stakes - 3rd
No. 6 My Prospero

There is something of an Australian connection in this year’s Prince Of Wales’s Stakes, with ‘Aussie Tom Marquand’ climbing into the saddle of My Prospero.

Sure, the bloke isn’t actually an Aussie, but given he plies his trade in Australia nearly every autumn, that’s good enough for me!

His mount, My Prospero, has been a consistent performer for the William Haggas yard throughout his career, and he tuned up for this race with a decent effort for fourth in the Group 1 Lockinge Stakes last time out.

With natural improvement, he can fight out the finish again.

Prince Of Wales's Stakes - 4th
No. 2 Bay Bridge

There has already been plenty of early interest for Bay Bridge in Prince Of Wales’s Stakes betting, and the consistent galloper has firmed $4.80 into $3.90 at Neds.

Having claimed the Group 1 Champion Stakes in a hit-and-run mission here back in October, the New Bay entire has placed in each of his first two starts back this time, and will step out tonight in peak order.

With even luck under Richard Kingscote, he too has the class to strike!
