Just cannot wait for this one.
The Masters is always the most enjoyable tournament on the Golf circuit each and every season, but with the rebel LIV Tour now in full flight, and the hatred between it and the PGA Tour stronger than ever, I genuinely cannot remember a more highly anticipated edition.
The world’s best golfers will descend on Augusta National in Georgia this week in search of riches, a coveted green jacket and, perhaps most importantly this year, bragging rights.
I’ve run the rule over the field and have provided my selections for best PGA Tour Players, best LIV Players, as well as my best Aussie roughie!
I’ve also put together my first ever Golf Same Game Multi – now available right here at Neds!
- Scottie Scheffler (Top 5)
- Brooks Koepka (Top 10)
- Min Woo Lee (Top 20)
PGA Tips
Scottie Scheffler ($7)
Scottie Scheffler has understandably opened favourite in our The Masters 2023 market, and I think he will be right in the thick of it on the final day.
Scheffler’s rise to prominence over the last couple of seasons truly has been something to behold, and it reached a new level when he recorded his first major win at this tournament last year.
So far this season, he has played ten events for two wins at The Phoenix Open and The Players, and he takes plenty of momentum and confidence into Augusta National.
Jon Rahm ($10)
The value of those towards the top of our outright Masters betting market lies with Jon Rahm, in my opinion.
Rahm has been similarly destructive throughout recent seasons, winning his first major at the 2021 US Open most notably, but figuring in the finish many, many times.
This season, he has recorded three tournament wins from nine events: the Sentry Tournament of Champions, The American Express and The Genesis Invitational.
Rahm remains one of the most clutch players in the world, and he’ll be extremely difficult to overcome in the final throws of The Masters.
LIV Tips
Cameron Smith ($21)
There is no doubt that Cam Smith has started the LIV season a little slower than he ended his last PGA campaign, but he is very much a big moment player, and I think that he is a genuine chance of winning The Masters this year.
Smith’s 2022 season was a memorable one, peaking under the hoist of the Claret Jug in July, before returning to Australia for another lovely win at the Australian PGA.
He is yet to taste tournament success on the LIV Tour, but he has continued to strip fitter and arriving in Georgia with his usual laid-back, well-poised attitude.
Brooks Koepka ($41)
If you’re looking for serious value in The Master betting, look no further than four-time Major winner Brooks Koepka.
Koepka’s defection to LIV was understandably one of the most highly publicised, and after he started his tenure extremely slowly, things didn’t look to be great.
Fast forward to the last six weeks, however, and Koepka has now won events in Jeddah, as well as last week’s tournament in Orlando, and carries plenty of momentum into The Masters.
I was expecting him to open at around the $21 mark, so the $41 about him at publish is overs (in my opinion).
Aussie Roughie Tip
Min Woo Lee ($51)
Aussie Min Woo Lee is enjoying a very competitive season on the PGA Tour, and I am confident that he’ll return another honest performance at The Masters.
Lee has only played four events, but was right in contention heading into the final day at The Players Championship before ultimately finishing T6.
At $51, he’s worth consideration for a small bet in The Masters Tournament Winner market, but probably moreso, to finish in the Top 20 ($2.63).
