EXCLUSIVE: Top-Secret AFL Relevancy Squad Uncovered

Ever wondered how footy manages to stay in the headlines 24/7 365 days a year?

Who organises for global celebrities and soccer players to pose with Sherrin footballs?

What do the Moon Landing and TV Footy Commentators have in common?

How did the AFL leak the Round 1 fixture during the Australia v Argentina World Cup game?

The AFL Relevancy Squad, known internally at AFL House as the ARS, that’s who.

In a special feature produced by NEDS, the crew follows the fortunes of execs Dylan McLachlan and Jack Demetriou who run a tight but secretive department at AFL House that makes sure that footy fans never think about any other sport, unless there’s a footy twist to it, and no matter the cost.

“The AFL Relevancy Squad works on three important principles to guide us through how we operate”, the ARS director Dylan McLachlan told Neds.

“It’s maximum prolonging. Maximum discussions. Do not let other sports be discussed. Ever.”

“We are Sherrin 24/7” a defiant McLachlan declared as they prepare for another Code Wars battle.

“It’s our job to ensure that It’s our job to make sure that footy is at the forefront of everybody’s mind.” 2IC of the ARS Jack Demetriou told Neds.

Jack Demetriou makes sure that footy is always top of mind for the fans.

The NEDS crew shows the insight into how the fixture is drip fed, extending the trade period for as long as they can, making sure any celebrity or visiting sports star from overseas (especially soccer players) is seen holding a Sherrin in a photo and the lengths the ARS will go to that ensures that no other sport takes hold of the hearts and minds of AFL fans Australia and worldwide.

Viewers will also get an insight into how the AFL Relevancy Department (the ARS) strategically leaked the Round 1, 2023 fixture at the exact same time as the Socceroos kicked off their Round of 16 game against Lionel Messi/Argentina at the Soccer World Cup.

Until now, no one but only a tiny few within the AFL has known about this secretive but important department at League HQ, but the lid will be blown off when the video premieres on NEDS YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter with the Gather Round in Adelaide about to commence.
