Newcastle: Race 2 (1:25pm)
No. 4 Lipscani

Lipscani has improved for two smart performances since debuting and is ready to break his maiden at Newcastle this afternoon.

The Toronado gelding showed some ability at the trials prior to debuting and hit the line well to fill the minors at Canterbury at his first appearance in February.

He trialled again, and returned to competitive to finish second at Kembla Grange last time out, and he looks well placed to go one better today.

Ballarat: Race 1 (1:35pm)
No. 2 Knife Talk

I’m keen on Knife Talk in the first at Ballarat today.

The Maher & Eustace-trained galloper has only made two appearances at the races as well, but only just missed here on debut before a tough run at Sandown.

Fitter third-up and under Johnny Allen today, I think this looks the perfect race for him.

Doomben: Race 6 (2:53pm)
No. 5 The Rattlesnake

The Rattlesnake faces a rise in class at Doomben today, but he is faultless this time in, and I am confident that he can win again.

The Chris Anderson-trained gelding kicked clear to win in BM58 company at the Sunshine Coast first up from a break, and he franked that performance at Ballina last time out.

Fitter third-up, he’s ready for midweek metro company and can fight out the finish again.

Ballarat: Race 6 (4:30pm)
No. 3 Gottabesavvy

Gottabesavvy returned a nice performance to fill the minors at Pakenham when resuming and will take plenty of benefit into this race.

The Savabeel gelding was a consistent performer during his debut prep, breaking his maiden at Moe most notably and finding form around some quality gallopers.

He only just missed at this point of his preparation last time in, and he has options today from the rails draw.
