AFL Round 7 Tips & Preview

AFL Round 7 Tips & Preview

With just over 72 hours between rounds of footy, Round 7 of the AFL season is set to be yet another interesting one that awaits footy fans.

While some beltings are expected, perhaps we’ll get the odd thriller and big bag of goals along the way.

Can we make it a profitable one?

Read on in our AFL Round 7 Tips and Preview below

ST KILDA VS PORT ADELAIDE
St Kilda to win by 1-39 @ $2.10

The top-of-the-ladder Saints host Port Adelaide on Friday night in what is set to be a fascinating encounter.

These two have met in exotic locations such as Cairns and China, but you’d think they are both delighted to be playing this game on a Friday night at Marvel Stadium.

You can’t help but be impressed, if not starting to believe in Ross Lyon 2.0’s Saints, who have lost just one game by a goal and have looked good week after week, with their 22-point win over the Blues last Sunday an absolute standout.

St Kilda opens the betting as $1.50 favourites, but their record over Port Adelaide hasn’t been great in recent years having won only one of their past 11 against the Power.

However, given the Saints haven’t sold their home game to an exotic location this time and will be playing at their Marvel Stadium fortress, they’ll bank the four points which will be more beneficial than any big cheque/travel junket.

BRISBANE LIONS VS FREMANTLE
SGM - Lions (-39.5)/Charlie Cameron 4+ Goals @ $6.54

Freo are just plain awful, I was a fool to think they would contend, so the Lions are set to feast on the Dockers this Saturday afternoon at the Gabba.

Brisbane will win this and win it easily.

In the past three weeks Charlie Cameron has averaged 5 goals per game and is coming off big bag of seven against the Giants in Canberra last week.

John Denver can expect another solid royalty cheque coming his way, as Charlie will kick at least four goals and the Lions will easily cover the -39.5 line on offer.

SYDNEY vs GWS GIANTS
Qtr by Qtr -Any Other Result @ $2.20

Despite being 10th and 12th on the ladder respectively, the Swans open the betting as $1.22 favourites against GWS ($4.25)

Both sides are coming off a disappointing loss last weekend, with Brisbane running away with the game against the orange team and Sydney getting spanked (again) by Geelong.

The Giants have been rather competitive this season and could cover the +25.5 line on offer but don’t rule out GWS taking an early lead at quarter or halftime on Saturday.

Any other result in the quarter-by-quarter looks like a good value bet.

WESTERN BULLDOGS VS HAWTHORN
SGM - Bulldogs lead every qtr/Adam Treloar 30+ Disp/Cody Weightman 2+ Goals @ $5.45

Poor old Hawthorn, they’ve come so close to getting that upset win but have just missed out.

Actually, no, not poor old Hawthorn.

Who feels sorry for Hawthorn?

Not even Hawthorn fans feel sorry, they know their fate.

Anyway, the Dogs will be clear favourites in a round of expected one sided games and this one is no exception.

To find a bit of value, it’s worth having a crack at a same game multi of which I have done for this clash and I’m just playing the hits.

Let’s take the Dogs to win every quarter, Trealor to have 30+ (he’s averaging 31 disposals per game) and Cody Weighman to kick a couple of sausage rolls as he is averaging 2.5 goals per game.

MELBOURNE VS NORTH MELBOURNE
Melbourne by 60+ @ $2.50

Let’s not muck around with this preview.

Melbourne will win this and win it comfortably on Saturday night.

North is going to get belted and it’ll be ugly.

Take the Dees 60+ and if you don’t barrack for any of these teams, why are you bothering watching this?

WEST COAST VS CARLTON
Carlton by 60+ @ $4.50

There’s been a lot of attention on Carlton this week, coming off what’s been perceived as a poor loss to St Kilda and people are impatient about if the Blues will make an impact.

Having said that, Carlton can head to Perth and have a nice percentage booster when they face the lowly West Coast Eagles who aren’t that great.

If the Blues play four full quarters of footy, it could get ugly.

I’ll take them at $4.50 for a 60+ win.

ESSENDON VS GEELONG
Geelong (-15.5) @ $1.90

A quick turnaround for the Dons who were blitzed by Magpies and Diacos’s (or Daici) on Anzac day, as they dust themselves off to take on the Cats at the MCG.

The Bombers head into the game as underdogs, despite much improvement this year as the Cats appeared to have resumed their winning ways, shaking off that premiership hangover.

The 15.5 point line offer from the bookies suggests we expect a close one, but Geelong has been belting teams of late and will have a decent break between games compared to Essendon.

The Cats should cover this one.

RICHMOND VS GOLD COAST SUNS
Either team to win by less than 24.5 points @ $1.96

Richmond is on the ropes, sitting in 16th on the ladder and the Tigers just ain’t what they used to be.

This Sunday, they face two of their biggest bogeys and fears:

Playing a home game at Marvel Stadium and the Gold Coast Suns.

Ever since Damien Hardwick said “he hated coming here” back in 2021, the Tigers haven’t won under the lid at Marvel, and we all know the history the Suns have over Richmond with goals after the siren.

Richmond will open the game favourites, with the mix of Marvel and the Suns just about anything and everything could happen.

This could be a close one, so I’m taking the tribet 24 or under option.

ADELAIDE VS COLLINGWOOD
SGM - Nick Daicos 35+ disposals/Josh Diacos 30+ Disposals @ $5.09

Forget any stable advertising breeding on racing dot com, Peter Daicos is the greatest stallion in Australian sport right now.

Both Josh and Nick are on fire.

Nick had a lazy 40 disposals, averages 36 per game and won the Anzac Medal.

And need we forget the Danni Minouge of Collingwood, Josh Daicos – 30 disposals on Anzac Day.

I’m going all in on an all Daicos same game multi.

Nick with that poetic 35+ and Josh for 30+ as they tear up Adelaide Oval on Sunday night.
