Daily Racing Tips – Wednesday, March 22

Randwick-Kensington: Race 1 (1:45pm AEDT)
No. 5 Dipsy Doodle

I’m with Dipsy Doodle in the first at Randwick-Kensington today.

Dipsy Doodle has made just one appearance at the races so far, and despite racing greenly, I thought that she showed great promise in finishing fourth behind stablemate Barber in the Kirkham Plate.

She’s had a nice trial in the lead up to this return and it looks a great kick-off point for her.

Randwick-Kensington: Race 4 (3:30pm AEDT)
No. 1 Headwall

Headwall has hardly put a hoof wrong since debuting, and he can record another win this afternoon at Randwick-Kensington.

The Dream Ahead gelding recorded consecutive wins in Provincial races when debuting in winter last year and was put away, and after just missing behind Distillate here when resuming, he powered clear to record a smart win in BM72 company last time.

Fitter third-up and under regular rider Blake Spriggs, I can’t find a reason why he won’t be in the finish again.

best bet
Randwick-Kensington: Race 5 (4:05pm AEDT)
No. 3 Biscayne Bay

Biscayne Bay returned a nice effort to finish second at Warwick Farm when resuming, and she looks well placed to go one better at Randwick-Kensington this afternoon.

The Sebring mare was excellent during her three-year-old season, finishing fifth in the ATC Oaks most notably, and proving that she is well and truly up to black type company several times.

She clearly needed her first run back to tune up, but gets the services of James McDonald this week and will relish getting out in trip.

Sandown: Race 7 (6pm AEDT)
No. 2 Helix

Helix has returned two lovely efforts since debuting, and he’ll take further improvement into the penultimate race at Sandown today.

Helix stamped himself as one to watch with a dominant performance and win on debut at Pakenham last month, and he was unlucky not to keep his unbeaten streak alive when second, beaten half a length by Marble Arch in Class 3 company.

The form out of that race has since been franked with the third-placed Bel Air winning on All-Star Mile Day, and I am expecting a big third-up performance from this bloke.
