Klopp is a galloper that tends to enjoy big improvement with a run under his belt and I’m keen to be with him in the first at Coffs Harbour today.
Klopp has been a good horse for the Port Macquarie stable of John Sprague since transferring to his care last winter, and he has picked off several races not dissimilar to this one.
He clearly needed his first run back at Taree to tune up, but should relish the conditions of this race, and he is drawn to receive every chance.
I thought that Kingdom Of Castile showed promise on debut at Bairnsdale and he can break his maiden at Wangaratta this afternoon.
The Palentino colt did race a little greenly, but he hit the line when to finish fourth in the 1200m contest, and I have little doubt he’ll take big improvement for the experience.
He’s drawn to receive a lovely run and can begin his rise through the grades.
Kris Lees looks like saddling the two leading contenders in the sixth at Coffs Harbour today, including Akauwheo.
Akauwheo has only made two appearances at the races so far, but worked home well into third at Newcastle on debut before breaking her maiden in convincing fashion at Scone last time.
This is harder, but it looks the next logical target, and she still harbours plenty of improvement.
Joselyn is yet to strike in four starts this season, but she has been freshened since her last appearance, and this does look a very winnable race for her.
The Pride Of Dubai mare was excellent last time in, winning consecutive races at Flemington and The Valley most notably, and finding form around some talented gallopers.
She has raced well around some good horses again this time, and this is the weakest task that she has been set.
