Feature racing returns to the Gold Coast on 2022 Recognition Stakes Day!
There are nine winners to be found in total, and you can find my complete 2022 Recognition Stakes Day Tips below.
Steady Ready has opened a clear favourite in betting ahead of the first on Recognition Stakes Day, but I thought Frederick The Dane looked a far better bet at around the $11 mark.
Federick The Dane is yet to strike in three starts back from a spell, but he has improved with each, and he has run into some decent gallopers.
He steps out this week in peak order and we can have an each way play at the price.
One of the six horses remaining in this field has previous race day experience and debutant Mighty has opened a clear favourite in betting.
I’m not particularly confident in anything, and I am happy to stay out of this with a view towards something later in the season.
Drive A Deel has recorded four wins in succession leading into this contest and I am happy to stick with her until she gives me a reason not to.
The Dundeel mare returned to winning form in Class 2 company at Doomben back in September and hasn’t taken a backwards step, doing enough to win every time that she has made an appearance and finding form around some talented gallopers.
She steps out this week in peak order and is drawn to receive every chance again.
There is a case to be made for a few of them in the fourth on Recognition Stakes Day, and Pomade is a touch of overs at a big price, in my opinion ($21 at publish).
Pomade made just two appearances at the races during his debut prep, winning at Doomben before finishing down the order in the Inglis Millennium.
Kris Lees has had an opinion of this horse since he arrived in his care, and he has been patient with him. I think this looks a lovely launchpad, and he’s another whom we can have something on each way.
Vaccine will need some luck after drawing awkwardly, but she was nothing short of outstanding last time in, and this looks a great kick-off point for her.
The daughter of Not A Single Doubt recorded three wins from five starts last time in, all in metro company, and she too found form around some above-average gallopers.
Her fresh record is good and she has a lot of these rivals covered for class.
Miss Hipstar can make a winning return to the races on Recognition Stakes Day.
The Star Turn mare has been a great horse for the Kelly Schweida yard for a few seasons now and has picked off some nice races, including the Dalrello Stakes during her two-year-old prep.
She didn’t manage to strike in five starts last time in, but she was typically competitive, and she has finished worse than second once in four previous fresh attempts.
Salateen clearly needed her first run back when fifth, beaten more than four length in the Keith Noud Quality a fortnight ago, but I’m confident she’ll enjoy plenty of improvement, and I am going to give her another chance.
The I Am Invincible mare was a multiple black type placegetter last time in, and she wasn’t far away from some genuine topliners.
Jim Byrne jumps into the saddle this week, and this looks a lovely race for Salateen.
Holyfield won the Keith Noud Quality, and I am eager to stick with him in the Recognition Stakes.
The I Am Invincible gelding was an inconsistent performer last time in, but his best efforts were still very good, and included an easy win in the Eye Liner at Ipswich.
His first-up effort this time was amongst the best of his career so far, however, and I’m only expecting improvement from it.
This isn’t the easiest way to end Recognition Stakes Day from a betting perspective and at publish, we’re faced with $5.50 the field.
That being said, Giulia has been good since resuming, and she’s the one that I want to be with.
Giulia ran home respectably to finish second behind Better Get Set at Eagle Farm when resuming this time, and she proved far too good for a BM75 field at Doomben last time.
Fitter third-up, something like this doesn’t look beyond her.
