2022 Railway Stakes Day Tips & Preview

We have Group 1 racing in the west this Saturday as the Perth Carnival gets into full swing.

Our full 2022 Railway Stakes Day Tips & Preview can be found below.

Race 1: Crystal Slipper Stakes (1100m) 12:05pm
No. 2 Home James

We have only seen Home James at the trials once leading into his racing debut but it was an impressive performance.

He recently had the ultimate gear change which will have him concentrating more on racing and I would watch betting as a guide.

Race 2: RTG66+ Handicap (2200m) 12:45pm
No. 6 Coolth

Coolth has made his way over from Victoria on the back of a third in open company over 2000m on a good track.

This is the first time the son son of Dundeel has raced beyond 2000m but he has drawn well in barrier two and represents good each way odds.

Race 3: RTG72+ Handicap (1000m) 1:25pm
No. 5 Cash Away

Cash Away has been a consistent performer over his short racing career to date having placed in all but one of his eight starts.

The four year old grey closed out his last campaign with a narrow victory in a one metro win grade race at Belmont and if he can recapture that form, he will go close in a race of this quality.

Race 4: RTG 66+ Handicap (1400m) 2:05pm
No. 2 Written Matter

Written Matter was narrowly defeated when resuming at Ascot first up over 1200m before scoring by two lengths in a similar race at his next start.

He is only a lightly raced five year old gelding who has managed five wins from 12 career starts and he looks well placed in this event.

The apprentice will give some weight relief and he has drawn to get a nice run in transit from barrier three.

Race 5: Listed Jungle Mist Classic (1200m) 2:45pm
No. 5 Sniparoochy

Sniparoochy is a talented and exciting four year old mare who has won seven of 16 overall and five of her last six.

She kick started this campaign with a two length win at Ascot in a RTG 72+ Handicap and if she can take another step forward, she can win her first black type race.

She will carry just 55kg and has drawn well in barrier four.

Race 6: Listed Carbine Club of W.A Stakes (1400m) 3:25pm
No. 6 Let's Galahvant

Let’s Galahvant put together three wins in a row including the Listed Hannans Handicap at Kalgoorlie to earn a shot at Group 3 level where he was beaten less than two lengths over 1400m two back.

The four year old gelding was then narrowly denied in the Group 3 R.J Peters Stakes last time out and if he can replicate that form, with the drop back to 1400m, he will go close in this race at nice each way odds.

Race 7: Group 2 W.A Guineas (1600m) 4:05pm
No. 3 All The King's Men

All The King’s Men closed out his two year old season finishing second, less then a length off the winner, in the Group 3 W.A Sires’ Produce Stakes in April.

He started this campaign with back to back wins before he was beaten by the barest of margins in at Listed level last time out.

He will be nearing peak fitness now at his fourth run and has proven classy enough to win a race like this with even luck.

Race 8: Group 1 Railway Stakes (1600m) 4:45pm
No. 7 Alaskan God

Alaskan God is the horse to beat in the feature race of the afternoon after a solid first up effort over 1400m in the Group 3 Asian Beau Stakes.

The Group 2 W.A.T.C Derby winner has won five of seven overall and while he will be better as he gets over more ground, his class will carry him a long way in this year’s Railway Stakes.

He drops one kilo on his fresh run and if Chris Parnham can get him a position with cover, you can look for him late.

Race 9: RTG 72+ Handicap (1600m) 5:20pm
Boxed Trifecta 4/6/7/8

Let’s box them up in the last and see if we can finish the day on a winning note!
