Daily Racing Tips – Melbourne Cup Day Edition

Flemington: Race 2 (11:20am AEDT)
No. 7 White Marlin

White Marlin puts an unbeaten record on the line in Race 2 on Melbourne Cup Day and I am keen to stick with him until he gives me a reason not to.

The Mastercrasftsman gelding won his first two career starts in Ireland prior to transferring to the care of Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott, and he has hit the ground running in Australia with another two victories here this season.

Fitter third-up and further out in trip, I think he’s going to take a power of beating again.

Flemington: Race 5 (1:20pm AEDT)
No. 17 Kin

James Cummings and Godolphin boast a strong hand in the Schweppervescence Plate, including Kin.

Kin had her first two career starts down the Flemington straight last summer, filling the minors on both occasions.

She has been good in three back this time; winning at Newcastle first-up and finishing a credible fourth in the Group 3 Thoroughbred Club Stakes at Caulfield last time out.

She steps out today in peak order, gets into the race well under the conditions and the booking of Jamie Kah certainly doesn’t hinder her chances.

Flemington: Race 6 (1:55pm AEDT)
No. 15 Dynasties

She didn’t perform as well as I expected her to last time out, but I remain a big fan of Dynasties and I am more than happy to give her another chance to win on Melbourne Cup Day, particularly at a big price ($16 at publish).

The Sebring mare returned some excellent performances in her autumn and winter prep this year, knocking off subsequent Group 1 winner Gypsy Goddess in the Gold Coast Bracelet most notably.

She actually wasn’t too far behind the winner in the Golden Pendant when resuming this time and finished fifth in the Ladies Day Vase at her only other run back.

Fitter third-up and out to the 1800m, I think that she is over the odds and we can have an each way play.

Flemington: Race 8 (3:50pm AEDT)
No. 6 Minsk Moment

I thought that Minsk Moment was excellent in the featured sprint on Geelong Cup Day and I am keen to stick with him in the eighth at Flemington today.

The I Am Invincible entire has been a good horse for the Waller yard since debuting, and backed up a handy fresh performance with arguably the best of his career to date, last time out.

Fitter third-up and under James McDonald, he just needs some luck from the barrier to be in the finish again.
