$10 million goes on the line in Saturday’s feature race at Rosehill Gardens – The Golden Eagle!
All in all, ten races will be run and won, and you can find my complete 2022 The Golden Eagle Day Tips below!
Ezekeil looks a winning chance in this week’s Highway race, at a lovely price ($10 at publish).
The Divine Prophet gelding has improved for two starts back, placing on both occasions and only just missing at Tamworth most recently.
Tyler Schiller has options from the rails draw and we can have an each way play at the price.
James Cummings and Godolphin will launch a strong two-pronged attack in the second on The Golden Eagle Day, including Va Via.
Va Via is yet to strike in five starts back from a spell, but she has been a model of consistency and has missed a place once.
She steps out this week in peak order and is drawn to receive every chance under Jamie Kah.
Waterford has opened a clear favourite in betting ahead of this BM78 Handicap, but the $2 is too short for me and I am keen to take him on.
One that I thought was over the odds at a big price is Maurice’s Medad.
Maurice’s Medad has hinted at above average ability since making his debut, and hasn’t been disgraced in some very good races and around some very good opponents.
I thought that he was good when third, beaten less than a length by Finepoint when resuming here last month, and he found the Silver Eagle field just a touch too sharp last time.
Fitter third-up and back to something like this, I’m keen to have an each way play.
Gin Martini gets out to a more suitable trip third-up this week and I thought that she looked a winning chance at a lovely price ($13 at publish).
The Rip Van Winkle mare returned some excellent performances during her three-year-old campaign, placing in the ATC Oaks most notably.
She returned an improved effort to finish sixth in the Group 3 Angst Stakes over a mile second-up, and it was the run of a mare looking for further, in my opinion.
Mars Mission worked home well into third, beaten only half a length in a BM72 race at Warwick Farm when resuming, and this looks a great opportunity for him to transition back into Saturday metro company.
The Deep Field gelding was a strong and consistent performer last time in, recording consecutive wins at Warwick Farm and The Valley most notably, and finding form around some credible opponents.
With improvement, I think that this is a winnable race for him.
In my opinion, the $12 about Polly Grey in Rosehill Gold Cup betting at publish is over the odds.
The Azamour has picked off plenty of nice races throughout her career, and she is still one of the best wet trackers in the country.
She finished fourth, beaten a length and a half in the Group 3 Angst Stakes over a mile when resuming, but I am confident she’ll enjoy big improvement for that effort, and she’s another whom we can have something on each way.
The Nature Strip Stakes field is nothing short of outstanding, and barring its namesake, some of the best sprinters in the world are engaged.
Mazu was excellent in The Everest, and he is the one that I want to be with over the 1300m this week.
The Maurice gelding has always boasted ability, but he went to another level in the autumn and early winter this year, winning each of his five starts, including the Group 1 Doomben 10,000.
His three starts back this time have been excellent, and he steps out this week in peak order.
This is another outstanding edition of The Golden Eagle, and many of Australia’s best four-year-olds will line up alongside a strong international contingent!
I’ve put I Wish I Win on top, but check out my full race preview and complete 2022 The Golden Eagle Tips RIGHT HERE.
Kayobi takes winning form into the Four Pillars and looks the one to beat again.
Kayobi doesn’t know how to run a bad race, and after ending his last prep with consecutive wins at Scone, he picked up where he left off with an easy victory at Kembla Grange.
This is harder, but he’s open to plenty of improvement and has the runs on the board.
Democracy Manifest can bounce back in the last on The Golden Eagle Day.
The Flying Artie gelding was too good for a BM72 company at Warwick Farm when resuming this time, and while he only managed to finish fifth in a similar race last time out, he was less than a length behind the winner.
Fitter third-up and from the good draw on Saturday, I am happy to give him another chance.
