2022 The Everest Tips

$15 million goes on the line at Royal Randwick on Saturday when some of the world’s best sprinters contest The Everest!

In its short existence, The Everest has well and truly taken its place as one of Australasia’s premier thoroughbred races and early betting for this year’s contest is understandably all about Nature Strip.

I’ve had a detailed look at the form around every runner, weighed up the likely conditions at Royal Randwick on Saturday and offered my complete 2022 The Everest Tips below.

Suggested Bets

  • 5 Units straight out #1 Nature Strip
  • Boxed Trifecta of the selections below
The Everest - Winner
No. 1 Nature Strip

Somehow, this absolute marvel of the turf is in career-best form, and he can defend his crown in The Everest.

Nature Strip finally added this race to his CV during another impressive spring preparation last year, and returned in the autumn to add a third TJ Smith Stakes most notably.

That was followed up with a trip to the UK and a stunning victory in the King’s Stand Stakes, and he returned to Australian shores for an easy win in The Shorts.

James McDonald rides, he’ll like the conditions and with even luck, I think he just wins.

The Everest - 2nd
No. 11 Jacquinot

I’ve been a fan of this boy since day dot and if a three-year-old is going to join Yes Yes Yes as an Everest winner, I think it will be Jacquinot.

He stamped himself as one to watch during his two-year-old season, but there is absolutely no doubt that he has gone to a new level this time.

His fresh win over the likes of Aft Cabin in the McNeil Stakes was dominant, and it was made to look even better when that rival brained them in the Neds Caulfield Guineas Prelude.

Since then, he has returned arguably the performance of the season to win the Golden Rose, and I don’t foresee there being any real issues in dropping back to 1200m third-up.

The Everest - 3rd
No. 2 Eduardo

It’s yet another edition of the exciting Nature Strip vs Eduardo rivalry, and I do believe that the $13 about this bloke in The Everest betting at publish is overs.

A multiple Group 1 winner in his own right, it is far to say that Eduardo hasn’t been quite as effective against Nature Strip throughout the last year, but he has still managed some excellent results, and he won the Concorde Stakes when resuming this time.

He did look a little flat in The Shorts last time, which is almost certainly why we’re getting this price, but fitter third-up and under Nash Rawiller, he’ll be given every chance again.

The Everest - 4th
No. 6 Private Eye

He simply couldn’t have been more impressive when resuming this time, and Private Eye really has put himself into The Everest calculations!

The 2021 Epsom Handicap winner didn’t find his best during his autumn campaign, but he did end his prep with an eye-catching run for second behind the Gator in the Stradbroke Handicap.

He kicked clear and beat some very good sprinters by more than two lengths in the Gilgai Stakes earlier this month, plus his second-up record is excellent.
