2022 The Everest Day Tips & Preview

It has quickly become one of the most highly anticipated meetings of the year, and enormous purses gone on the line at Royal Randwick on The Everest Day!

The inclement weather has continued in Sydney this week and we’ll almost certainly be racing on a wet track. With that in mind, you can find my complete 2022 The Everest Day Tips below.

Listed Reginald Allen Quality (1400m) – 12:30pm AEDT
No. 10 Parisal

Parisal has only made one appearance at the races so far, but I am confident that she’ll enjoy big improvement for that experience, and she can win the Reginald Allen Quality.

The Astern filly showed promise at the trials prior to debuting and raced home well to finish second behind the promising Shohei at Canterbury.

I’m expecting that form to hold up and she is drawn to receive every chance this week under Rachel King.

Big Dance Wild Card (1600m) – 1:05pm AEDT
No. 1 Kirwin's Lane

This Big Dance Wild Card race is understandably a wide-open affair and at publish, we’re faced with around $6 the field.

I thought that Kirwan’s Lane was excellent when fourth in the Group 2 Shannon Stakes when resuming, and he’s the one that I want to be with.

The Charm Spirit gelding has been a great horse for the John O’Shea yard for several seasons now, and he boasts an outstanding second-up record.

best bet
Group 3 Craven Plate (1800m) – 1:40pm AEDT
No. 1 Cascadian

The Craven Plate has become a very lucrative race and a classy field has been taken.

Cascadian was nothing short of outstanding in the Hill Stakes last time and I can’t find a reason why he won’t be in the finish of this race as well.

The multiple Group 1 champion finished third and fourth respectively in a couple of Group 1 features when resuming this time, and he was at his brilliant best last time out.

He’s rock-hard fit, loves a wet track and is my best bet on the program.

The Star St Leger Stakes (2600m) – 2:15pm AEDT
No. 8 Chalk Stream

Chalk Stream can record his first Australian win in the St Leger Stakes.

The Sea The Stars gelding has been a horse for the late Her Majesty The Queen, and recorded some lovely wins in the UK prior to his transferral to Chris Waller’s care.

He’s improved for two starts back this time and been back to the trials since his most-recent races, and we can have an each-way play at current odds.

The Kosciuszko (1200m) – 2:50pm AEDT
No. 3 Front Page

It’s the richest race for country gallopers in Australia and $2 million goes on the line in The Kosciuszko!

I’ve been a fan of Front Page for quite a while now, and he is the one for me at around the $6 mark.

Front Page has held his own in metro company throughout his career, is a Listed winner and almost certainly would have gone around favourite in this race last year, had he not been an unfortunate scratching.

He hasn’t been seen at the races since June, but he absolutely flies fresh and is drawn to receive every chance on Saturday.

Group 3 Sydney Stakes (1200m) – 3:25pm AEDT
No. 1 Apache Chase

I absolutely love the Sydney Stakes. Several times, I’ve rated it a better race than The Everest, and while that might not be the case this year, it shapes as an outstanding betting race.

Assuming he doesn’t gain a start in The Everest, Queensland raider Apache Chase can win the Sydney Stakes.

The Better Than Ready gelding has been the star of Desleigh Forster’s stable since making his debut, and he realised his Group 1 potential with an outstanding performance in the Kingsford-Smith Cup back in May.

I thought he was decent in a strong edition of the Premiere Stakes when resuming and he’ll enjoy plenty of improvement into this.

The Everest (1200m) – 4:15pm AEDT
No. 1 Nature Strip

It’s the world’s richest race on turf and some of the best sprinters on the planet are engaged.

I simply couldn’t look past Nature Strip, but be sure to check out my full race preview and complete The Everest Tips RIGHT HERE.

Silver Eagle (1300m) – 4:50pm AEDT
No. 4 Kiss Sum

It was supposed to be run last weekend before the meeting was abandoned, and the Silver Eagle will now be contested as Race 8 on The Everest Day.

I was keen on Kiss Sum last week, and I am even more keen on his chances this week from barrier 6.

Kiss Sum hasn’t been seen at the races since June, but he was outstanding during his autumn and winter prep, and was last seen winning the Gunsynd Classic.

He’s had the benefit of a couple of trials leading up to his return, he has a good fresh record, and we can have an each-way play at around the $19 mark.

each way
Five Diamonds Prelude (1500m) – 5:30pm AEDT
No. 5 Lord Ardmore

Lord Ardmore has been a strong and consistent performer this time in, and I think he’ll run a nice race stepping back in trip in the Five Diamonds Prelude.

The Reliable Man gelding recorded consecutive wins in a couple of decent races in July and August, and he wasn’t far away from the winner in black type company at his last two.

He’s been freshened, sent back to the trials, and he’s another whom we can have something on each-way at around the $11 mark.

each way
Group 3 Angst Stakes (1600m) – 6:10pm AEDT
No. 3 Honeycreeper

I’m going to stick with Honeycreeper second-up in the rescheduled Angst Stakes this weekend.

Honeycreeper has been a strong and consistent performer throughout her career, and she returned some typically nice performances during her autumn prep earlier this year, highlighted by a win in the Adrian Knox Stakes.

She worked home well to finish fifth, beaten only a length and a half here at Randwick last month, and I think she’ll take big improvement into this contest.
