2022 Turnbull Stakes Tips

The Turnbull Stakes headlines another outstanding program at HQ on Saturday, and some of the best horses in the country are engaged.

European import Gold Trip has filled the minors at his first two starts in Australia, and he has already received plenty of interest in Turnbull Stakes betting, firming onto the top line.

I’ve dug deep into the form of every galloper going around in feature race, and you can find my complete 2022 Turnbull Stakes Tips below.

Suggested Bets

  • 2 Units E/W #11 Young Werther
  • Boxed Trifecta of the selections below
Turnbull Stakes - Winner
No. 11 Young Werther

Going a little wider with my topping in the Turnbull Stakes, and I think that Young Werther can win at around the $12 mark.

Young Werther was excellent during his spring preparation last year, and he went within half a length of an enormous upset over Incentivise in this race, most notably.

He has been set for a tilt at the Melbourne Cup this time, and he can make a statement by winning at the same track.

Turnbull Stakes - 2nd
No. 2 Duais

Duais is still our early Caulfield Cup betting favourite, but I think she’d need to be right in the finish of the Turnbull Stakes for that to remain.

The Shamus Award mare has been a great horse since debuting and won the Queensland Oaks during last year’s Winter Carnival, but she went to another level in the autumn of this year when striking in both the Australian Cup and the Tancred Stakes.

The former of those two autumn wins was at this track and trip, and she steps out this week third-up and ready to do something.

Turnbull Stakes - 3rd
No. 12 Gold Trip

I admit that he has been competitive, but I am of the opinion that I need to see Gold Trip win at the highest level before I put him on top.

The Outstrip entire found form around some of the world’s best horses during his time in Europe, and ended his tenure third in the Group 1 Prix St Cloud.

He hit the line well in both of his Australian starts, and there’s no doubt he’ll relish the rise in trip this week.

The booking of Jamie Kah, and the 54.5kgs are also positives.

Turnbull Stakes - 4th
No. 15 Maximal

Maximal has hinted at winning something good since arriving in Australia, and I think that the Turnbull Stakes looks a lovely race for him.

The Galileo entire flew home to finish second, beaten less than half a length in the Doomben Cup back in May, and I thought that performance suggested that this sort of distance was his best trip.

He finished down the order behind Anamoe in the George Main when resuming, but will take plenty of benefit for that hit-out.
