2022 Moir Stakes Tips

We’ll be treated to Group 1 racing on three-consecutive days this week, and the Moir Stakes kicks off the action at The Valley on Friday night!

Some of the best sprinters in the country are engaged, and that depth of talent has led to the Moir Stakes being an outstanding betting race.

I’ve run the rule over every galloper, and you can find my complete 2022 Moir Stakes Tips below.

Suggested Bets

  • 2 Units E/W #1 The Inferno
  • Boxed Trifecta of the selections below
Moir Stakes - Winner
No. 1 The Inferno

Going for a bit of value on top of my Moir Stakes Tips this year, and I thought that The Inferno was over the odds at around the $18 mark.

The former Singaporean stormed onto the Australian racing scene last spring, winning the McEwen Stakes at this track and distance before only just missing behind Wild Ruler in this race.

He didn’t show his best in the autumn of this year, but I was really impressed with the way he hit the line for fourth, beaten two lengths by Rothfire here when resuming.

Any improvement and I think he’ll be right in the finish again.

Moir Stakes - 2nd
No. 3 Rothfire

He was nothing short of outstanding in the McEwen when resuming, and the Moir also looks a very winnable race for Rothfire.

He ended a stunning two-year-old season with a win at the highest level in the JJ Atkins, but Rothfire’s subsequent racing career has been plagued with injury.

That being said, I actually thought that his fresh effort this time was one of, if not the best of his career to date, and it really did suggest that he is back.

Moir Stakes - 3rd
No. 2 Pauele

Paulele is unlucky not to have already recorded a win at the highest level of racing, and he is the one that Neds punters want in early Moir Stakes betting, having firmed $5 into $4.40 at publish.

The Dawn Approach entire was a typically consistent performer through his autumn and winter prep this year and placed in each of the TJ Smith Stakes, Doomben 10,000 and Kingsford-Smith Cup most notably.

He is three from four at this point of his prep previously and James McDonald rides from a good draw this week – I for one wouldn’t be surprised to see him crowned the Moir Stakes winner.

Moir Stakes - 4th
No. 12 Coolangatta

Magic Millions winner Coolangatta will carry only 50kgs in the Moir Stakes and adds a bit of value to our first four at around the $10 mark.

She was obviously excellent during her two-year-old season, and while she was no match for Rothfire and Zoustyle in the McEwen Stakes when resuming, I’m confident she’ll enjoy big improvement for that hit-out.

Jamie Kah is another big bonus, and she too can fight out the finish.
