The Flight Stakes has been won by some of the best three-year-old fillies that Australasia has produced, and it features as one of three Group 1 contests at Royal Randwick on Saturday.
Two previous winners at the highest level of racing headline a 2022 Flight Stakes field of ten, but there is a case to be made for nearly every runner.

Suggested Bets
- 4 Units straight out #1 Fireburn
- Boxed Trifecta of the selections below
I thought that Fireburn was absolutely outstanding in the Golden Rose last weekend, and I like that she is on the short back-up in the Flight Stakes.
The Rebel Dane filly was the standout of her age group during the recent Autumn Carnival, winning five races in succession, including both the Golden Slipper and the Inglis’ Sires, before only just missing the Triple Crown when second behind She’s Extreme in the Champagne Stakes.
She kept coming last weekend and was less than two lengths behind Jacquinot, and the mile at this point of her campaign looks absolutely ideal.
Madame Pommery has improved for two starts back this time, and she too can fight out the finish of the Flight Stakes.
The No Nay Never filly races well, albeit in weaker company during her two-year-old season, and she clearly needed her first run back when fifth, beaten more than seven lengths in the Furious Stakes.
She followed up that effort with an enormous one in the Tea Rose Stakes, however, when flying home to only just missed behind Zougotcha.
Fitter third-up and out to a mile, she rates as a live chance.
Zougotcha is chasing a hat-trick when she takes her place in the Flight Stakes field and has been backed into early favouritism at Neds ($3.10 into $2.90 at publish).
The Zoustar filly recorded her first black type victory in the Silver Shadow here in August, and a month between runs didn’t prove to be a problem when she just got there in the Tea Rose Stakes as well.
She looks to be at peak fitness for this race and James McDonald retains the ride.
North Star Lass has returned to the races in excellent form, and I think that she’ll be competitive again in the Flight Stakes.
The Zoustar filly was a deserved winner of the Furious Stakes two back, and I think that she was good through the line when fourth in the Tea Rose last time out.
She clearly has plenty of ability, I just think that a couple of her rivals are a little better!
