2022 Epsom Day looms as one of the most exciting programs of the year, and three Group 1 features will be contested.
I’ve run the rule over the entire program, and you can find my complete 2022 Epsom Day Tips below.
It’s that time of year again, when we start to see the new crop of juveniles step out for the first time!
Ten two-year-old colts & geldings are engaged in this year’s Group 3 Breeders’ Plate and all are on debut. There’s too much that can happen in races like this one for me to have any real confidence, so I am going to stay out of it from a betting perspective, with a view towards something later in the season.
The same race but for fillies, a capacity field has been taken for the Gimcrack Stakes and two emergencies!
Same deal as above, I’m going to watch with keen interest for the big autumn races.
The consistent Kalino goes around in the third on Epsom Handicap Day, and he is the one that I want to be with.
Kalino has missed placing once in his last five trips to the races, winning twice and finding form around some handy gallopers.
He steps out this week in peak order and is drawn to receive every chance under Tommy Berry.
Group 2 races don’t get much more lucrative than this, and $1 million goes on the line in the Hill Stakes.
With that in mind, this year’s Hill Stakes field is packed with talent and there’s a case to be made for a few of them, but I am going to be with the early favourite Montefilia.
Montefilia added a fourth career Group 1 victory to her CV with an outstanding performance in the Ranvet Stakes in the autumn, and she returned with a nice run for fourth behind Anamoe in the George Main a fortnight ago.
I’m of the opinion that 2000m is her best trip, and she’ll take plenty of improvement into this contest.
The Dulcify Stakes also looms as a wide-open contest this year and at publish, we’re looking at around $5 the field.
The well-bred Scientist has shown plenty of ability since debuting, and he looks the value in Dulcify Stakes betting at around the $13 mark.
Scientist finished third, beaten nearly four lengths on debut at Canterbury in August, but took plenty of improvement into an eye-catching win at Warwick Farm last time.
He’s a month between runs, but has plenty of upside, the booking of Tim Clark is positive and we can have an each-way play at the price.
Some of the country’s best three-year-old fillies will step out in this year’s Flight Stakes field including Fireburn, who I have put on top.

The Everest is only a fortnight away and several confirmed starters and hopefuls will step out in the Premiere Stakes.
Queensland raider Apache Chase will make his eagerly awaited return, and he really does look over the odds at around the $18 mark.
He’s been a good horse throughout his career, but Apache Chase finally realised his Group 1 potential in winter this year when leading home a talented field in the Kingsford-Smith Cup.
His fresh record is good, Jim Byrne is making the trip from Brisbane to ride him, and he’s another whom we can have something on each way.
Another open edition of the Epsom Handicap headlines Saturday’s program at Randwick!
I’ve put Fangirl on top for the Waller stable, but check out my complete race preview and 2022 Epsom Handicap Tips RIGHT HERE.
The third and final Group 1 of the meeting will see fifteen stayers assemble for The Metropolitan.
Surefire is a dual acceptor in the Turnbull Stakes in Melbourne, but this is the far softer option and surely the way that Chris Waller will elect to go with him.

Bacchanalia can win the last on Epsom Day.
Bacchanalia is yet to record a win in 2022, but he is lightly-raced this year and has form around some very good horses, including Mazu.
He needed his first run back when sixth, beaten two lengths by Remarque and Clemenceau earlier this month, but is two from three at this point of his preparation.
