Daily Racing Tips – Sunday, August 7

Wagga: Race 1 (12:50pm)
No. 1 Rupp

He’s only made one appearance at the races so far, but I thought that we saw enough from Rupp on debut to suggest he’d be tough to beat in something like this.

Rupp showed ability at the trials prior to debuting and ran home well to finish fourth, beaten just over a length at Donald last month.

With improvement for that experience, I think he’s ready to win.

Wagga: Race 4 (2:50pm)
No. 1 Scarlet Prince

Scarlet Prince can make a winning return at Wagga on Saturday.

The Mitch Beer-trained gelding hasn’t been seen at the races since February, but his fresh record is excellent, and he won each of his first two starts back last time.

This is a drop in class from what he last contesting and a recent trial suggested that he is primed to strike fresh.

Sandown: Race 5 (3:10pm)
No. 1 Saunter Boy

He’s arguably the best jumper in the country, and Saunter Boy can win the Grand National this afternoon.

The Myboycharlie gelding has been a great horse throughout his career, but there is no doubt that he has gone to another level since transition to jumps racing, and he’s saluted in our best jumps races.

He’s rock-hard fit and with appropriate luck, I think he’ll just be winning again!

Wagga: Race 6 (4:01pm)
No. 7 Hardware Lane

I think that Mitch Beer can also saddle the winner of the feature race in Hardware Lane.

Hardware Lane has returned some excellent efforts this time in, winning a Highway race at Hawkesbury most notably, and he was last seen finishing a credible fifth in BM78 company at Rosehill.

He’s rock-hard fit and gets conditions to suit.
