Feature racing kicks off early this week, and all focus will be on provincial New South Wales on Friday for 2022 Wyong Gold Cup Day!
Two Listed races headline the program, and you can find my complete 2022 Wyong Gold Cup Day Tips below.
Nano Star has improved for two starts back this time and is ready to break her maiden on Wyong Gold Cup Day.
The Mikki Isle mare has placed in three of five starts since debuting and was unlucky not to get there over this route, last time out.
Fitter third-up, I don’t think she’ll get a better opportunity to win than this.
Sumatra takes winning form into the second at Wyong on Friday and can continue her rise through the grades.
The regally bred filly showed ability without being able to break her maiden during her two-year-old prep, but began her current campaign in the best way possible with a comfortably win at Hawkesbury.
This looks the next logical target and she has plenty of upside.
London is another second-up galloper with winning claims on Wyong Gold Cup Day.
The Capitalist colt has made three appearances at the races since debuting back in January and has found form around some classy horses, including Fireburn.
He was luckless at Newcastle first-up this time, but I am eager to see what he can do second-up for the first time, and I think that Hugh Bowman is the right man for the job.
Bayezid was an impressive winner on debut and can keep alive his unbeaten record in this contest.
The I Am Invincible colt showed ability at the trials prior to debuting and put the writing on the wall at Newcastle last month.
I’m confident the horse will only improve for that experience.
Coppleson has recorded one win from one career start, and he is another horse whom I am very confident in again on Friday.
The Rip Van Winkle trialled fairly prior to his debut, and he mustered a nice turn of foot to win by a head at Newcastle last month.
I like that he has been kept up to the mark with a trial since that effort and he can win again.
Chris Munce has kept Boomnova in New South Wales for the Mona Lisa Stakes, and it looks the perfect race for her.
The talented Queenslander won each of her three starts last time in, peaking with a dominant effort in the Listed Lightning at Eagle Farm.
She clearly needed her first run back this time when fourth, beaten three lengths in the Group 3 Toy Show Quality, but her second-up record is outstanding and this does look a weaker race.
It looks to be another open edition of the Wyong Gold Cup, with a case to be made for a few of them!
I’ve put Toomuchtobear on top, but be sure to check out my full race preview and complete 2022 Wyong Gold Cup Tips RIGHT HERE.
The talented Oakfield Duke goes around in the last on Wyong Gold Cup Day, and he is the one that I want to be with.
Oakfield Duke finished third, beaten half a length here on debut and hasn’t looked back, winning each of his three subsequent starts impressively.
He has been freshened since his most-recent performance back in July, but I can’t find a reason why he won’t be in the finish.
