2022 Winx Stakes Tips

It feels like only yesterday we cheered home Startantes in the final Group 1 of the season but already, the top line action returns, and we’ll be treated to another star-studded edition of the Winx Stakes!

Just like the race’s namesake, plenty of Group 1 quality horses will launch their respective Spring Carnival campaigns in the Winx Stakes, and there’s plenty of value to be found in betting as a result.

I’ve run the rule over the entire field, and you can find my complete 2022 Winx Stakes Tips below.

Suggested Bets

  • 3 Units straight out #1 Mo’unga
  • Boxed Trifecta of the selections below
Winx Stakes - Winner
No. 1 Mo'unga

Reigning Winx Stakes winner Mo’unga will resume in the feature race again this year, and he’s the one that I want to be with.

The Savabeel entire landed his second career Group 1 victory in last year’s edition of this race, and it set him up for an excellent spring preparation which also heralded a credible fourth behind State Of Rest in the Ladbrokes Cox Plate and third placing in the Mackinnon Stakes.

He’s had the benefit of a couple of trials leading up to his return and I’m confident he’ll build on his impressive fresh record.

Winx Stakes - 2nd
No. 3 Anamoe

He’s one of the best horses in the country, he flies fresh and he’s always been one of mine, so I really don’t have a reason not to have Anamoe in my Winx Stakes quinella.

Having won the Inglis Sires’ during his two-year-old season and the Neds Caulfield Guineas the start prior, Anamoe was desperately unlucky not to take win the Ladbrokes Cox Plate at the conclusion of his spring prep.

Having added the Rosehill Guineas to his resume in autumn this year, the stage is set for the Street Boss entire to enjoy another glittering spring campaign, beginning here and geared towards going one better in Australasia’s weight-for-age championship.

Winx Stakes - 3rd
No. 10 Fangirl

Fangirl broke through for her first Group 1 victory during this year’s Autumn Carnival, and I’m confident she’ll return a competitive effort fresh in the Winx Stakes.

The Sebring mare stamped herself as one to watch with three-consecutive wins last spring, and she make a winning return in the Light Fingers Stakes here in February.

Her subsequent campaign was highlighted by her impressive performances in the Vinery Stud Stakes, and she’s had the benefit of a couple of trials leading up to her return.

Winx Stakes - 4th
No. 9 Icebath

Icebath has won more than $4 million in prizemoney but incredibly, is still yet to taste success in a black type race.

The Sacred Falls mare has been a strong and consistent performer for the Brad Widdup stable for many seasons now, and her consistency at the top level heralded some typically great results in the autumn.

Her fresh record is good, she likes a rain-affected track, and Kerrin McEvoy can give her a good steer from barrier 8 in the Winx Stakes.
