Group 1 racing is back in session! Royal Randwick will host another outstanding edition of Winx Stakes Day this weekend, and ten races are on the program.
As always, I’ve run the rule over the lot, and you can find my complete 2022 Winx Stakes Day Tips below.
There’s a case to be made for a few of them in this week’s Highway race, but I am going to have something on She’s Contrary.
She’s Contrary has been a consistent performer for the Cavanough stable since making her debut, and she returned with a nice effort to finish third, beaten half a length at Tamworth earlier this month.
Her second-up record is excellent and we can have an each-way play at the price.
So United has returned some lovely efforts this time in, and he is ready to win when he steps out on Winx Stakes Day.
The So You Think gelding only just missed behind La Chevalee in BM78 company here last month, and while he was luckless over 2200m at Warwick Farm two back, he was denied only by a head at this track and trip last time out.
He takes his place this week in peak order and might not be offered a better opportunity to win.
It took him a few to get going this time, but Bazooka was nothing short of outstanding here a fortnight ago, and he can record another win in this week’s Midway Handicap.
Bazooka has been a good horse for the David Payne yard since making his debut, and races like this one have certainly been his bread and butter.
He has been charged with carrying topweight, but he’s drawn well and with even luck, will still take plenty of beating.
Equation will enjoy plenty of improvement into his second campaign start on Winx Stakes Day, and this rates as a very winnable race for him.
The Press Statement gelding didn’t manage to record a race win last time in, but he did return some smart efforts in decent races, and he found form around some above-average gallopers.
I thought that there was plenty to like about his first-up effort for fourth, beaten just over a length here first-up, and he has recorded two wins from three previous second-up attempts.
King Of Sparta holds a key fitness edge over several of his key rivals in this year’s Show County Quality, and he is the one that I want to be with.
King Of Sparta won the Magic Millions Guineas during his summer prep this year, extending Peter & Paul Snowden’s good record in that race, but he went to the paddock after failing to make an impressive in the Southern Cross Stakes.
He proved too good for his rivals in the Bletchingly Stakes at Caulfield when returning from a freshen-up last month, and raced home well to finish fourth in the Aurie’s Star at Flemington last time out.
Nash Rawiller rides this week and the horse should receive every chance to win again.
Toomuchtobear can win this year’s Premier’s Cup.
The Waller-trained galloper has been a strong and consistent performer right the way through his racing career, and his missed placing only three times in fourteen career starts.
He steps out this week third-up and following a nice effort behind Cross Talk in the Winter Challenge. The rise in trip suits at this point of his prep and any improvement at all would find him extremely difficult to beat.
This is an open edition of the Toy Show Quality and a horse like Fituese is certainly up the task first-up.
Fituese has arguably been the stable star for John Thompson for a few seasons now, and she has recorded several wins and three second placings from her twenty starts, four of which at this point of her preparation.
She hasn’t won for more than a year, but she rarely returns a poor effort, and she’s another whom we can have something on each-way at around the $10 mark.
Group 1 racing returns and what an outstanding edition of the Winx Stakes we are set for!
I’ve put reigning champion Mo’unga on top, but check out my full race preview and complete 2022 Winx Stakes Tips RIGHT HERE.
Some of the country’s best three-year-old fillies will contest this Silver Shadow Stakes, but the undefeated In Secret is the one that I want to be with.
In Secret stamped herself as a filly to follow with an easy win on debut at Hawkesbury in April, and she franked that effort with another comfortable win in the Listed Woodlands Stakes last time.
Her recent trial was strong and she is drawn to receive the run of the race under James McDonald.
Arbitration takes winning form into the last on Winx Stakes Day, and I am confident that she can make a successful transition into Saturday metro company.
The Street Boss mare ended her last prep with an easy win in maiden company at Warwick Farm and picked up where she left off with a decent performance and win in BM64 company.
This is harder, but she gets into the race well under the conditions, and we can have an each-way play at the price.
