Feature racing continues at The Valley on McKenzie Stakes Day, as we continued to gear up for the return of Group 1 action in Melbourne!
There are nine winners to be found, and you can find my complete 2022 McKenzie Stakes Day Tips below.
Do It La can make a winning return to the races at The Valley on Saturday.
The Shalaa filly made just three appearances at the races during her debut prep, winning at Ballarat before finishing a credible sixth in the Group 2 VRC Sires’ Produce.
She was last seen finishing second in a photo finish to the Mornington Sires’, and she has reportedly improved in her time away from the track.
I’m going to stick with Islero in the second on McKenzie Stakes Day.
Islero made a winning return in maiden company at Murtoa last month, and he was just a length and a half behind the winner in a better race at Sandown last time.
Fitter third-up and out to the 1500m, he looks a bit of value.
Lackeen takes winning form into the third on McKenzie Stakes Day and looks well placed to make it two in a row.
The Shamardal gelding tuned up with a couple of decent efforts at Randwick and Caulfield first and second-up, and he charged clear to record a bullish win over a mile here last time out.
He clearly relishes the conditions at The Valley I can’t find a reason why he won’t be in the finish again.
Impulsar faces a rise in class at The Valley this week, but he has returned to action in excellent touch this time, and something like this doesn’t look beyond him.
The Frankel gelding poked clear to win in BM70 company at Sandown first-up this time, and while he didn’t match it with the likes of Reuber at Caulfield, he produced a career-best performance to date to comfortably win last time out.
He takes his place this week in peak order, the 2500m should suit and with even luck, it looks a great opportunity for him to successfully transition to Saturday metro company.
Let’srollthedice can make a winning return in the McKenzie Stakes.
Let’srollthedice stamped himself as one to watch with consecutive wins on debut in the autumn, including the VRC Sires’ Produce, and he was far from disgraced in a couple of Group 1 races up in Sydney, most recently.
He clearly races well fresh and as long as he handles The Valley, I think the $7 about him is overs.
Mayfair Spirit has improved for two starts since debuting, and he looks a winning chance at a lovely price in Race 6.
The Charm Spirit gelding failed to make an impressive in BM84 company at Caulfield when resuming back in June, but was far better when filling the minors behind Here To Shock last time out.
Fitter third-up, out to a mile and under Jamie Kah, he looks capable of another competitive showing.
I thought that Gold Trip’s Australian debut was excellent, and this looks a very winnable race for him.
Gold Trip raced well around some outstanding gallopers in Europe, and was unlucky not to strike in Group 1 company last May.
He worked home well to finish third behind Cross Talk and Toomuchtobear at Rosehill three weeks ago, and he’s another who should relish a step up in trip, and a slightly firmer track.
He didn’t show a lot first-up in the Sir John Monash Stakes last month, but we know how good Oxley Road can be at his best, and I’m keen to dip in at the $15 (available at publish).
Oxley Road has picked off some nice races for the Moody stable, and probably found his best form in a spring prep last year that saw him win the Caulfield Sprint.
He’s yet to miss placing at this point of his prep and is another whom we can have something on each way.
Zakat will have his first start for Caroline Jennings in the last on McKenzie Stakes Day, and his outstanding fresh record suggests he’ll be quite effective in something like this.
The former Godolphin galloper was a consistent performer during his time donning famous blue silks, picking off some nice races and beating some very good horses in the process.
We can have an each-way play at the price.
