The Darwin Cup meeting is a pilgrimage for the Australian racing fraternity, and the feature race is one of the most highly sought-after prizes in the country.
A capacity field has been taken for Monday’s 2022 Darwin Cup at Fannie Bay, and as always, it shapes as a terrific betting contest.

Playoffs is the one that I want to be with in this year’s Darwin Cup field.
The former Victorian returned plenty of nice efforts while under the care of Ciaron Maher & David Eustace, and won in BM84 company at Flemington back in February most notably this year.
He arrived in Darwin for an impressive win in the Chief Minister’s Cup a few weeks ago and will only improve for that effort, and getting out to the Darwin Cup trip.
Venting won the NT Derby last time out, and he looks the value in Darwin Cup betting at around the $12 mark.
Venting was a fair performer for the Danny O’Brien yard earlier in his career, but he really has found a home on the Darwin dirt and has improved with each of his three starts back this time, peaking in the Derby last time out.
He steps out on Monday in peak order and gets into the race well – he’ll just need some luck in running from the outside barrier!
Living The Dream is drawn to receive all of the favours from barrier 4, and at publish, he has been backed into favouritism in Darwin Cup betting.
The Artie Schiller gelding has picked off plenty of nice country cups throughout his career, including the Kalgoorlie Cup back in October.
He returned this time with an eye-catching effort to strike in the Metric Mile just over a week ago, and he too will enjoy plenty of improvement into this contest.
One that I think can threaten a few of these toppies in the 2022 Darwin Cup is Kaonic.
He burst onto the Australian racing scene during his three-year-old season, and Kaonic didn’t quite hit the heights a lot of pundits expected him to, he has raced well on the Queensland country scene in recent seasons and this time, in Darwin.
He finished down the order in the Metric Mile last time out, but he beat home so quality gallopers at his start prior, and he injects some real value into our Darwin Cup exotics at around the $41 mark.
