The UFC returns to the UFC Apex in Las Vegas this weekend after a truly extraordinary card of fights in Austin last week.
A lightweight fight headlines the card on Sunday between #11 ranked Arman Tsarukyan and #12 ranked Mateusz Gamrot.
Our full YFC Fight Night: Tsarukyan vs Gamrot Tips & Preview can be found below.
Arman Tsarukyan is one of the most exciting prospects in one of the most exciting divisions in the UFC.
He has just two losses on his 20 fight professional resume and has won 17 of his last 18.
12 of his 18 wins have come via KO/TKO or submission and his only loss in the UFC was to Islam Makhachev via unanimous decision in April of 2019.
Up next, he takes on Mateusz Gamrot who is also an exciting prospect with just one loss from 22 professional fights.
He too lost his first fight in the UFC but has since won his last three, all coming by KO/TKO or submission.
It is rare that the UFC matches up two guys who are on their way to the top of the division this early in their careers which is what makes this such an interesting fight.
Both athletes are well rounded, they are high level grapplers as well as wrestlers although I give the advantage to Tsarukyan.
I’m glad this is a five round fight and while I give the advantage to Tsarukyan, the judges will likely be needed.
Shavkat Rakhmonov became the first Kazakh fighter to sign with the UFC back in 2020 and he has won all three of his fights so far by finish.
In fact, he is undefeated in 15 professional fights and he has a flawless record when it comes to finishes (8 KO & 7 Subs).
Neil Magny has been somewhat of a gatekeeper in the welterweight division for quite some time now and very successfully.
He made his debut in the promotion at UFC 157 in 2013 and has won five of his last six fights.
His only loss in that time was against Michael Chiesa in January 2021 and all six of those fights have gone the distance.
Despite being 34 years of age, Magny does not show signs of slowing down and this is thank to just two of his losses being by KO.
His strengths lie with his pressure, colume and excellent cardio and you know you are in a fight when you come up against Neil Magny.
It is really tough to find a flaw in Shavkat Rakhmonov’s game which is why this fight has the recipe to be an all-time classic.
While this is a good test for Shavkat, I believe he has too many pathways to victory and can pass this tough challenge.
This is not the third last fight on the card but we added it in because The Action Man was kind enough to join us for our ’60 seconds with’ segment (see below).
Chris Curtis has had an incredible couple of years in the sport of MMA.
He won an incredible six fights in the year 2021, earning him a UFC contract and he has won his two fights in the biggest MMA organisation in the sport via knock out.
His opponent is Rodolpho Vieira who he was scheduled to face back in April.
Vieira is a a BJJ Black belt under Julio Cesar and is a multiple time gold medalist at the world championships.
He has just one loss in nine pro MMA fights and seven of his eight wins are via submission.
Curtis is a high level boxer and this shapes as a classic striker vs grappler contest.
But every fight starts on the feet and this is where The Action Man will land a big shot and end the fight.
