Nature Strip was breathtaking down the Royal Ascot straight and made an entire nation bloody proud.
We reckon there’s a stack of horses in our current crop who’d give the carnival a red-hot crack if they ventured up to the Northern Hemisphere.
- Anamoe
This fella ran second in the 2021 Cox Plate. You could argue he should’ve won and based on the amount of time they spent arguing the fact in the steward’s room a lot of people would agree.
The horse who did end up winning that race, State of Rest, has gone on to win a Group 1 in France and just this week added the Prince of Wales Stakes (a Group 1 over 2000m at Royal Ascot) to the list.
There’s no reason why Anamoe wouldn’t be competitive in that race this time next year.
- Hitotsu
An absolute freak of a horse. If he wasn’t injured, the Victoria and Australia Derby winner would be a major player in the middle-distance/ staying races during the Spring Carnival.
The Maher/ Eustace camp were bullish about the fact he’d be a genuine Melbourne Cup threat.
Based on that, we’d think he could give the Gold Cup a real crack.
- Mazu
We may be biased (we definitely are), but after his victory in the Doomben 10,000 we firmly believe Mazu is the best up and coming sprinter in the country.
With an extra few preps under his belt, he may very well end up being the best sprinter in Australia in a couple years’ time.
We’d love to see him venture to Royal Ascot and showcase his talents on the world stage.

She may have failed in the Queen Elizabeth Stakes but we are giving that entire day of racing a wide berth. Duais looks to be a genuine WFA middle distance/ staying star.
When Chris Waller crowns something the next Verry Ellegant you know it is something special. We think she could measure up against the world’s best at the peak of her powers.
- Incentivise
If he comes back as well as he was before getting injured in the Melbourne Cup this guy can go toe-to-toe with the Poms at Royal Ascot as a stayer.
His victory in the 2021 Caulfield Cup was dominant. World-class.
A win up there wouldn’t be a bad feat for the boy from Toowoomba.
