Nicstar has only just missed at his three starts back this time, and she gets another chance to strike at Ballarat today.
The daughter of Zoustar hasn’t missed placing at five previous trips to the races, and she takes her place in this race fourth-up, and following a nice effort for second at Pakenham.
She looks to be in peak order and can break the duck.
Apache Star takes his place in this race at peak fitness, and I think he’ll take plenty of beating.
The Star Witness gelding recorded a nice win in BM58 company at Pakenham three back, and while he failed to get into his race at Pakenham two back, he responded with a competitive effort last time out.
He has been charged with carrying topweight, but I am confident that his class edge will prove the difference today.
Rose Tycoon takes winning form into the penultimate race at Ballarat today and looks well placed to make it two in a row.
The daughter of Written Tycoon filled the minors at each of her first two career starts, and she returned this time with a dominant win in maiden company.
This is harder, but she harbours plenty of upside, and it does look the next logical step.
Filip’s Star is another second-up starter that rates as a key winning chance at Ballarat this afternoon.
The More Than Ready gelding returned some lovely efforts last time in, winning at Hamilton and finishing second at The Valley most notably, and I thought that there was a lot to like about his resuming effort for third at Ballarat, earlier this month.
With improvement, I can’t find a reason why he won’t be in the finish again.
