Eleven Eleven is the one that I want to be with in the Hawkesbury Gold Rush.
The Fastnet Rock gelding has been nothing short of outstanding throughout his career. He’s a three-time winner at the Magic Millions, and he’s picked off several other good races along the way.
He hasn’t been seen since defending his crown in the Magic Millions Cup in January, but he boasts a class edge over a lot of these, and his recent trial at Randwick was excellent.
Mr Mozart has found career-best form this time, and he’s the one to beat in the Hawkesbury Guineas.
The Team Hawkes-trained colt burst back into the winner’s stall with a dominant performance in the Group 2 Phar Laps Stakes two back, and he repeated that effort and result in open company in the Group 3 Doncaster Prelude last time.
He’s a month between starts, but drops back to three-year-old grade, and he is my best bet of the day.
I am a fan of Cape Breton, and I think that the Queensland Guineas looks a great race for him.
The decision to geld the horse prior to his current prep seems to have switched him on, and he was an impressive winner at Randwick-Kensington when fresh, and he has been far from disgraced in a couple of black type contests since.
He takes his place in this field at full fitness, and following a nice run for fourth in the Daybreak Lover Stakes.
A mile looks ideal, and we can have an each-way play at around the $16 mark.
Gundec can bounce back at Sandown this afternoon.
The Kermadec colt stamped announced himself to the greater Australian racing fraternity during the 2021 Spring Carnival, winning the Victoria Derby Trial most notably.
He was particularly impressive when resuming this time though, winning his first two, including the Bendigo Guineas, but he was a little flat at Caulfield last time out.
He steps out today in peak order and can return to winning form.
